I've seen a bunch of people worried that the day is fast approaching where DSMs will become unfixable. For those fretting the increasing parts nonavailability for these cars, watch this:

You must be logged in to view this image or video.

In 10-15 years, we'll have affordable bespoke parts manufacture--you supply a CAD file, and they extrude a piece to your specifications (or the tooling to make the part). As these cars age, and the necessity of custom parts increases, it seems we'll be blessed with a future that brings an extreme drop in the cost of manufacturing those custom parts in small quantities. How lucky we are in comparison to generations of car lovers before us.

What's more, how often have we heard it: "DSMs are a dead platform; there's not enough potential profit to warrant the research and development costs" of certain parts? With the manufacturing technology on display in that video, we'll be able to take a more grassroots approach to vehicle modification--maybe something akin to open source software development.

Don't fear guys; there isn't a foreseeable time in our lifetimes when we will be unable to drive our DSMs.
