I bought my old turbo setup off of the guy I sold my last DSM to. It is an evo 3 16g...the wastegate actuator was fine when I got rid of the car, but now it has a dent in the side.

Is it OK to still run this actuator? I had to modify the arm on it previously in order to get the correct preload on the wastegate so still want to use this one if possible. Pics below of the dent:

I had one all banged up worked fine as far as i know, but its on the way out got a tial now, i would run it and see how it works.

I am not too familiar with what exactly moves inside the actuator...I know a spring but not sure if theres a big diaphragm that will interfere with the dent or?

I took it off and took off the 14b actuator i have as well....hooked it up to a bike tire pump and the arm extends 1/2 inch. Tested the 14b actuator and it did the same thing...extends 1/2 inch.

So i assume that is the correct length?

I'm bringing this thread back because I have a similar problem. I had bought a 16g off one of our members and didn't realize the wastegate had been smashed where the body necks down. I tested like the OP did and it did actuate. Finally got around to installing the turbo on my car and it's really laggy, so I'm wondering if the actuator is not fully closing, allowing exhaust gases to escape through the wastegate. I've felt this before on my old FWD when the actuator arm came off so the flapper would blow open. Does anyone know if you can buy just the actuator from Mitsu? I found one on Ebay, but I'm really leery about buying one from a company called "Chinese Motor Parts".
