Testing the new proportioning valve, battery relocated to rear seats, lexan windows. Now the handling is less nervous :D.

I had to run slower because the track was very dirty, dust water and mud in the curves!!! (i spin out once WTF).

Update here the complete first session.

I went to work and i heard like exhaust leaks. And ended being striped threads, so a couple of beers (8 beers eeek), and a lot of patience, and she is running again.

Its been a while from y last update.
And has been passed more than a year from the last track visit.

Some rear bars where installed to adjust that camber. As easy as the fronts.

I'm preparing the car to return to the tracks, almost everything is ready, but the tires...

From years ago i was thinking about that used slicks they sell locally from the races hosted at the Nascar Oval. 205/60/13, 245/40/18, 26.5x6x15 (rare), 27x10x15, 27.5x10x15 are the common sizes.

18's are rare (because they are good for almost every car), 13's are small and narrow, 15's are the cheapest and most available slick they have. The issue, is that they are big and wide.

Its been discussed in the past that nascar tires are too much tire for our cars, but for the money i just can let pass this time. Its 96 bucks for a set of 4 slicks.

I hope there is enough rubber....

I had to tell everyone a story, and isn't a good one.

I've been testing the new tires on the car, just to be sure everything is okay before spending some $$$ to go Roadracing.

Well, with the new traction i was expecting to have oil or fuel starvation issues. But the funny true was that the uni-body of the car just separates itself near to where the struts are attached!!
I found this this week, the car start to losses its camber randomly, and yesterday when i was traveling from workplace to home, i loose all the brakes. I came to a stop and the pedal just get to the floor :(
I had to stop using e-brake, and then continue ahead to stop a the side to perform a check, and i just found the chassis all separated and bend. OMG i get in crisis mode, and talked with my fiberglass guy, and he still was in his shop.
Well isn't good to say that i crossed all the city without brakes. But finally i get to the shop and i let the car there.

This is not good, i barely can sleep, and had a busy day at work!
Not any good, is like a nightmare, my dream car is falling in pieces by itself.... repair engine or transmission isn't good but it can be done. But man, a destroyed uni-body is any good. I remember i had to travel 28 hours when i buyed this car. Because is so rare here in mexico, but is my dream car.

Well, today at the end of the day, i talked with the fiberglass guy, to know how was the repairings going. He said he just finished and the car has new brake line and new fluid, and was ready.

My wife left me at the shop, and the car really was ready. I checked everything, and all ready to go. And really the car is good again!
Well, im at home with the car parked in the street, in just get drunk. And im writing this with my bad learned english....

I have no pics of the car in damaged state, i was in panic, crisis mode.
And still no pics of the reparings.

But if you have a 1g and you do lots of racing, please reinforce the weldings!! they are just a few welding points there!!

Good news.
This has been progressing from being totally un-drivable and unstable to been really feasible.

I spend some hours testing wheel by wheel. And i found one of the wheels are not ok. I sent it to the rear, and i made the final testing on the road. It feels better, its usable, the grip is awesome!

Now waiting that wheel to be repaired.

Aug.04.2016
Received the repaired wheel, tested it and its good!
I really started to think that every wheel needs reparings also, but the wheels are heavy as hell (34lbs per wheel).

This slick thing is really happening. So..

Aug.05.2016
I found some 2 piece lightweight wheels locally, they are so good to be true, but they are ugly :|

I've fighting with alignment and wheel balancing. This Friday was finally all good (and new wheels yay).

Today in the morning was cold and rainy, and again the vibration issues appeared.....
So i coming to the conclusion. The slicks are getting flatspoted for rest all the weekend installed on the car.
This is new to me.... but seems is very common and everyone knows about it WTF
It happened before, vibrations in the morning, and at the end of the day the issue dissapeared after drive it a couple of minutes....
I hope today at the end of the day will be hot enough to test if this is true.

Well. Facebook reminds me that one day like today but one year ago I get the first pair of slicks, to start adapting the car to them.

And its been almost a year to daily drive (or almost) in full slicks.

The suspension ha been dialed in, she is strong on curves but slow and boring on straights.

The little 16g turbo is not flowing anymore reliably so i'm planing to make a turbo change. I'm going slow on this because time is tight and i'm focusing more on aero and drivability. But i started with the simple things:
19884309_10155022352739633_8006723490825037877_n.jpg

I'm also poking some ideas, maybe bad maybe good... time will tell
19959130_10155022352794633_970960186100734158_n.jpg

Also i'm sparing some time to build a standalone ecu based on arduino, so im learning arduino code in the meantime i get all the bom parts.

So far i'm doing little things here and there, hoping one day i can return to race. :/
