Ok, so I got a GM mass airflow sensor from a camaro... its a straight threw 3 inch... I need to make my own intake to put it on out of either like pvc piping or something, if anyone has ideas on what to use to make the piping that i could do myself, plz tell me... I also want to know if anyone has tried this before.

2 suggestions. dont use pvc by the way

either go to www.burnsstainless.com(i think thats the website). they have 90 degree and 45 degree stainless bends. youll need 2 90 degree bends and maybe 24 inches of straight pipe to go to front of engine bay. follow the routing of the injen intakebut make it straight 3 inch pipe.

or go to www.slowboyracing.com go to there diy section and get 2 90 degree echaust bends. there all mandrel bent and cheap as hellz

all this would be mandrel bent you just have to make sure you dont get to close to the

a) thermno housing as there is a plug hangin off the side almost thats the temp sensor in the dash. you know this off it may leak anti freeze depending on how it cracks. also if this breaks you lose temp readings

and b) you have to make sure it clears the battery and the cruise box if you have one. you may just want to yank out the cruise control in it why your at it and get a non-cruise cable.

good luck, if you got any questions just message me

You could always hit up an exhaust shop and have them bend a 3" piece of pipe for you. Then you would be sure to have all the bends and length correct....

I think i might do that because of the vacuum hose, i don't like playing with stuff i can easily mess up...

Look at my pvc intake, everyone swears against it but I have had it for 3 months now and it's great. BTW it's for sale if your interested. Look at my add in the classifieds.

its not a vacum line its a breather for the underneath of the valve cover. for the head and stuff. no air is sucked in that line or it would be sucked into the underneath of the valve cover into the top of the head. wouldnt make any sense.

get either a catch can or a breather filter and be done wiht yet another line in the engine compartment

must you run a maf translator to run a GM air flow sensor on an N/t... or can i just splice it into the stock wiring harness???

Ok... well I know this is really stupid of me, but do they sell a straight conversion from the mitsu plug to the gm plug where i don't have to splice???

Is there any adapter, other than the MAFT, that will connect a mitsu plug to a gm plug???

No, the signal is completely different. You HAVE to have a MAF Translator to run a GM MAF on your vehicle. I've been running one on mine, and it's one of the best mods you could do for your n/a vehicle. Spend the money. You will not regret it.

Ok, but don't you need like some type of portable computer to tune the MAFTranslator???

The MAF Translator has knobs and 4 switches inside that you use to tune. What you need is a datalogger so that you can know how your tuning is affecting the vehicle. You especially need to know fuel trims and o2 voltage. You can pick up a datalogger cable and palm pilot for about $100 or maybe less. A GM MAF can be had for about $60 and a translator will run you about $200-$230. It well worth it though.

what type of data do i need to log??? egt? a/f??? i mean, i don't really understand this mudskipper.

You need to log the low, mid, high, and o2 trim in addition to your o2 readings. Of course log rpms and the throttle position sensor. You should also keep an eye on the injector pulse width. That will tell you when you're getting close to maxing out your injectors which you will need a significant number of mods to get to that point.

i know this is off subjest but where did you get those blue throttle cables from i cant find them any where

where would i get something like that thunder? to monitor all that stuff on the fly?

pocketlogger.com This site has all the information to the questions that you are looking for. If you run a serial cable to the logger, then you are able to see the results as you are driving. Mount it on your dash somehow and simply peek over to see the numbers. This should help a little. :thumb:

And I would definately go with the Translator. It will be one of the best purchases you could make. From the greater air flow of running the GM MAF to the tunability of it, it pays for itself in performance within a few hours of proper tuning with the logger.

you need a PDA though to run that, i don't have a PDA... I would like to know where I could get the whole kit all at once, and i know dsmloggers.com does, but i don't like paypal... why because i lost my password and they won't let me make a new account BUT have blocked me outta the old account...

You're going to have to use a pda or laptop to run any logger. Go on ebay. Look for pda's and do a search for "eclipse datalogger". Get one of the OBD1 datalogger cables and make sure it's for a palm pilot. To run the free datalogging software you need a pda running Palm OS 3.5 or higher. This route's a lot cheaper than pocketlogger.com.

Alrite, i found it and i will find the software for it later, but why shouldn't I make this custom intake out of PVC piping instead of aluminum... I know weight, but the GM MASS I have is surrounded in black PVC piping off that camaro, and a camaro would run hotter than our cars... so i mean why shouldn't i make it outta pvc or is that just personal preferance?
