Hello,
Long story short after I bought my 99 Eclipse the balance shaft broke, also taking out the crank sensor. I have replaced the balance shaft and crank sensor. But there was never no timing cover.
If it happens to rain, which it did again today. ( Kansas ). No matter how careful I drive water ofcourse splashes up onto the sensor and causes it not to work right.
I know the sensor got wet once the rpm's started jumping around and not reving over 2000rpm while it sounds like it is 2-stepping.
I have went threw this twice with rain over the months. Once I give the car a few hours to let all the water dry on the sensor it will start right up and be fine unless water gets on it again.
So my question is besides the regular timing cover, which go for on ebay kinda pricey. Has anyone made a custom lower cover to stop water from getting onto the sensor.
I was also thinking if I could find a lower engine body cover that might help out too!.
Input?
