90 Talon 5-speed -awd ...

Ok soooo now that shes moveing under her own power after the 91 ecu swap every thing is great ....

BUT...... Well when you drive normal its fine but when you try to shift over 4500 rpms its like 2d isint even there no grinding NOTHING like the gear isint even there.

I just bought the car from a trusted friend and its always been like this ... its had maybe 300 miles on it in 4yrs .

Mods ... big16g(ported) mbc, hard pipes,Underdrive crank pulley ,2g man (ported) .

The car pulls nasty on just 12lbs .. way harder then the colt did with the 4g63 swap i just wish i could figure this out without buying a trans ... my luck it is but just maybe its an adjustment ?

What do you guys think...?

Also some times it grinds in reverse even if you put it in 4th then try to go to reverse?:aha:

Thanks for you time guys.

Rob.

Is it new gear oil? What gear oil are you using? Was the transmission cold when this 2nd gear issue was occurring? Did you already bleed and adjust your clutch hydraulics?

It "may" require a fresh 2nd gear/2nd synchro/new 1/2 hub and slider/springs/keys, but answer these questions first and it will allow us to give you a bit more information as to if it is a clutch adjustment issue, a gear oil issue/temperature issue, or if there are other gremlins we are dealing with.

Honestly i just received the car finely after 3 months due to a bad ecu ..

I put probably 70 miles on it today .. ive not checked the trans oil due to a snow ice storm .

It has had a new auto-zone (i know roll eyes) clutch kit installed and everything was bled but this was 3years ago .... I will check the fluid and replace everything within the next week or so .

This is not my DD but something ive been wanting and waiting for since 2009 LOL....

Ill keep u posted ...

As of now all we know is my buddy seen the car on a roll back in 2005 going to the scrap yard and bought the car off the roll back for 500 bucks Not running due to biss and then did new axel/clutch biss 255-wb hard pipe's 16g 2g mani 2.5" dp mbc and threw some mods on the car and never even dove it(60 miles TOPS) . The motor was replace in 2003 (10k miles on the motor long block with papers as of today )

I gave 2k for it . I my self think i got a good deal even if i have to replace the trans .ZERO RUST panda style with 2g chromes.

I remember him saying something about welding the cable brackets together or something years ago ... but im not 100% sure ive not lookd and hes a honda guy so the dsm was a side toy for him .

Well its gonna be the trans i guess... I checked everything most of everything was low .... but the cables are shot and the brackets are junk along with all the mounts for the motor and trans. i have access to a lift so it shouldn't be a big deal.

Ill try to grab some pics while im doing this of the car when the ice/snow is gone.

urg...Its sooo messed up LOL i drove it to work today to throw it up on the lift to fix a minor oil leak & few other things... on the way to work it lost 2d....

So i get to work to back into the shop Reverse is completely gone on the way home u have to shift under 2500 rpms inorder to hit 4th... im not gonna even bother anymore playing games trying fix parts that have been stressed to the max..... time for new struts trans clutch flywheel cables and hub bearings all the way around .

Time to start shopping.

It sounds like a lot of problems in conjunction with each other. Sorry to hear!

honestly not trying to get anything going here but ... as far as trans go..

Shep or Jacks ? i think the price difference on a stage 1 is like 150 bucks... but i plan on needing a transfer case to sooo what do you guys think ?

Were do you guys buy 90 shift cables? Man owning a 90 its sure fun finding cretin parts LOL...

WTF

Thanks Rob.

Well i got the car back to work threw it up on the lift fixed the oil leak found out it has a brand new xfer case LOL.... and a reman trannie..and started looking closer at the cables after i let it back down and found that the shift cable is smoked.. Its not broken but about 40% of the cable is and the caseing around the cable is also ...

Well i used my hand to select the gears and everything worked.:hellyeah:

Anyone know were i can find some NEW 1g cables less then 150 bucks or is the that going price? Thease al ready have brass inserts were they hook to the trans and the shifter has brass bushings also.

Thanks alot guys good looking out pretty soon ill be able to do 1-2-3-4-5 LOL instead of 1-3-5 ROFL...

On the crusie home i ran into a yellow colbalt ss with 2 younger guys ... they down shifted next to me and i said i its only on 9lbs .... there reply was this is only on 14.... i just waved em on LOL.... ROFL
