Ok I know what the dredaded crankwalk is.But my question is what can I do to prevent it from hapening to my engine??

Using a fully synthetic oil like mobil 10w 30 or go the oposite way using conventional motor oil.
Or maybe use a very heavy motor oil like 20w 50
:dsm:

so the main thing is not to stress the crankshaft and always keep the engine well lubricated??

The main reason the 4G63 is known for crank walk is because of people dumping the clutch with high pressure pressure plates and AWD. When they do that theyre putting an huge amount of shock on the crank. Crankwalk isnt as occurant as people think. Here in Utah there are plenty of hooked up dsm's and Ive never heard about crankwalk happening to anyone here. If there was a list of cars that have crankwalked im sure the AWD's would be dominating the list. Another reason is that its really important to get all the mantenance done on regular intervals, and most people dont realize how important that is, especially with a dsm.

ok then .Since I drive a GS-T crankwalk should not be much of a problem for me.
But still it doesnt mean that I am inmune to it but now that I know what to consider while racing my car, I will feel beter!!

Thanks for the info!

if anyone knew the answer to this question, they wouldn't be posting it. they would be charging DSM owners to perform whatever needed to be done making tons of $$ off their crankwalk solution. i say just stuff a shim of wood between the block and the crank. that'll keep it from moving. that's what i did... 80K miles later i'm doing fine ;)
