CRANKSHAFT Sensor 95 mitsu eclipse GSX stock
My Daughters balance shaft sprocket belt broken and just about blew out the timing belt as well. During the disassemble process I also seen the crankshaft position sensor was just about destroyed. If you are familiar with the sensor looking at it from the side it is almost shaped like an h with a small magnet inside. On the crank shaft sprocket there is a 2 half moon plates on both sides. I did not take notice when I removed the broken parts how it was positioned. As I said it was just about destroyed. It seemed simple enough.
So what I am asking is when the 2 half moon plates rotate with the crank shaft sprocket do they go thru the sensor. It seems that way to me but when I tried it, the plates damaged the small magnet. So I was thinking when the belt blew out it bent the half moon plates so they contact the sensor. Am I correct with my assumption. I have the Hayes book & searched the net but everything says install the sensor the opposite as removed.
