Well I just bought another dsm and as of right now the car does not run. When you turn the crank pully, the belts will turn (alt. powersteering and ac) but the timing belt will not turn with it. The timing belt its self is till tight and not tore anywhere. I just wanted to figure out what could be the problem before I take it apart. Any ideas would be great thanks!

Is the timing belt tight or loose? Could be a hydraulic tensioner or missing teeth on the belt. Either way you most likely have bent valves and will need to take the head off.

Sounds like the crank pulley has separated. It doesn't explain why the car won't run, however.

^^^No that's backwards. If the timing belt moved and the accessory belts didn't, then I would say that the crank pulley seperated. But since they are moving and the timing belt isn't, it's not the crank pulley. The timing belt would still move even if the pulley had came completely apart as it runs off a seperate gear behind the pulley.

It depends on how you interpret the original post. The OP stated he was turning the crank pulley, not the crank. I interpreted that to mean he was turning the pulley by hand. If the accessory belts turned, but not the timing belt, a separated pulley is a possibility. However, if he was turning the crank, using a 1/2" breaker bar in the crank bolt, then you and Steve are correct regarding stripped teeth on the timing belt. That would also explain why the car won't run. A separated pulley shouldn't stop the car from running.

I'm leaning towards the fact that I interpreted the post wrong. Besides, who am I to argue with a Wiseman? Especially when he lives so close to me. I could get banned AND get my ass kicked. WTF :D

Hey thanks guys for all of your advice. Yes sorry my post is not clear as can be but what I was doing this it was with a breaker bar so the crank pulley did not separate. The timing belt is still tight and I’m guessing some teeth just came off causing it to not grip which would lead to bent valves. I just hope the pistons are ok the guy said he was going slow and right as it happen he turned the car off. I guess I wont know until I pull the thing apart.
