I am going to be needing a datalogger/pocketlogger or whatever the hell you want to call it.

Is this http://www.dsmparts.com/data_logger_combo_1g.htm all I need or do I need to get a palm as I've heard it called as well?

If you could point me in the direction of getting everything I need that would be great. Thanks and sorry for not knowing my shit.

I've been there and read the FAQ.

Is a palm also a PDA or what's goin on?

I looked here http://pocketlogger.com/?page=prod&prod=dsm and didn't know if that was all I needed as well. I just got confused reading the FAQ but I think I got it now. So I buy the software and the cable, then I get a palm that will hook up to the cable. Where would I get a palm?

Then does this stuff hook up to my computer or something? Once again, sorry for not knowing my stuff.

you need the $150 package from pocketlogger.com. it comes with the software and the cable to hook into your palm.

you need a PDA that uses the Palm OS v3.0 or higher. Palm actually makes handhelds. you can get the Palm m100, which is the low model, but works perfect if all you want to do is log. they have high models. sony makes some with the palm OS as well. basically any PDA that uses the Palm OS 3.0 or higher and has a serial port on it. you will also need to get a hotsync cable to plug your logger cable into your palm. the palms usually come with a cradle that will work, but it isn't too good to use for a moving vehicle because it will fall from the cradle. depending on what PDA you get you can get them from anywhere around $20-$40. ebay is a great place for palms. you can get a m100 for around $50 bucks. so here is everything you will need.

PDA w/ Palm OS v3.0 or higher and serial port: $50-$300
Pocketlogger software and cable: $150
Hotsync Cable (specific for whatever PDA you buy): $20-40

Hope this helps you out in anyway...

yup you are good to go :) happy logging...
