hey all
i'm having a couple of problems installing my compustar 2wss-as..
for some reason when i turn the key on/off 5 times.. i get the one relay click that i'm supposed to get... but then a moment later i get 4 more. when i put the battery into the remote, the antenna blinks for a whlie, then all of the icons show on the remote.. then nothing...

i tried to get help from a tech guy but he was kind of a pain.. so i'm looking for help here before going back to him.
he said that all of the wires from the ignition should be connected to something... there is a blue wire and a blue wire with black stripe coming from the ignition... anyone know what those are for?
there's also a smaller harness with 6 wires which appears to just tell the car when the key is in the ignition and also light the ring around the key.. i can't tell what the other wires are for.. any help?

if you want to contact me via AIM, that would be cool: KorndoggOCR

thanks a lot!

All I can say is that I installed mine too and I thought it was harder than rebuilding my engine. And I did both myself for the first time. I am actually trying to figure out one or two more wires. Mine is working but not the way I want it. I am at the point of just saying screw it and take it to somebody that can do it right. My problem is that my HVAC does not kick in untill I put the key in and I also want both doors to unlock, connect my power windows to it, cant find my trunk wire, and want to connect my motion sensor to it. I'll go take my panel of and take a peak how mine is connected and let you know in a bit. If you know about my HVAC let me know please.

what does hvac stand for? heh

i am currently not using ANY of CN2:
(-)light output
(-)status output
(-)ignition output
(-)accessory output
(-)starter output

and i havn't hooked up disarm on CN5 because i had a sheet that said green/white wire near fusebox *rolls eyes* everything else i could poke around with a multimeter and find it.. but how am i supposed to find that with a multimeter.. heh..
and that same sheet said that the stock alarm disarms with door unlock, so i'm hoping i won't need it.. heh. but if you can fill me in on where the wire is on which harness, that would be awesome.

do you have both lock and unlock hooked to the same wire?
i hooked them both to a wire behind the stereo which controls just the drivers side (i just wanna get it goin for now). my sheet says that there's another wire you can use in "a harness behind the glove box", but the only harness i found was more behind the passenger's kickpanel.. and when i unplugged it, it didn't affect the locks functionality.. heh... so... i dunno

and yeah, i searched for my trunk signal wire for quite a while... couldn't find it. for your info, my sheet says that it's a red wire with green stripe (which it is, i checked the sensor at the back) in the driver's kickpanel... but i couldn't find it wiht my multimeter.. you could just run a wire back to the sensor, but i didn't feel like it (for now)

where did you get your info on where to connect what? did you happen to buy from e-bay and recieve a peice of paper from "directech" 's website?

if you have something else, please help me out.

maybe if we combine resources we can both be happy? :)

well just went and checked and found my problem with my HVAC (heat vent and ac I think) I looked at my wire to my ignition and this is what I did, its working for me

alarm to ignition
yellow/black to black/brown
green to black/white
White to blue/black
red and the red/white to white

the green and white is that the one for the parking lights? if it is its goes in behind the fuse box. Best is take your fox box out it helps a little with the parking light and hood trigger

The door unlock I hooked up two wires to two wires behind my stereo I looked for the one behind the glove box but it looked like I did not need it. It was on the right side of the stereo I cant remember if there are two relays or just one.. If you cant figure it out I will pull my center console and look tommorow.

Yeah I bought mine from ebay and the number that they give you is this crappy tech that just told me it as to be installed professionally.

Here is another post that I found with some wire diagrams:
2G DSM Wiring (eclipse, should match Talons) (post #21)

HOPe this helps :thumb: Have fun with it I was very proud once I figured it out but all I can say I had sleepless night over this son of biitch. No just to tap into my shock sensor for my motion sensor and my windows I should be set . Go to www.compustar.org and look for the wire diagram and just match it up with the info I gave you

so you didn't tap into the blue wires in the ignition?
do you know what 2nd ignition is?

did you use CN2 at all?

the way you have your starter, ignition, 12V is the same way i have mine..

the green/white wire that i couldn't find is the factory disarm...

what is the neutral safety wire? is taht to make sure you are in neutral? what would you even hook that to on the 2wss-as?

for the tach, i used a white wire behind the cluster (which is what my sheet says to use)...

i would really appreciate your help with this
thanks again!

edit:
do you have AIM?
KorndoggOCR

edit2:
hmm.. when you said you put yellow/black (Starter) to black/brown.... you mean black/red, right? heh
thanks

and you didn't have to actually cut any wires besides the starter wire, right?

yeah I thought it was brown but it must be red. YEah I just fried my all alarm head unit. I was tapping into the shock sensor for my motion sensor and my 12v touched ground ( I should have disconnected the power source so dont do what I did). So I spend all evening getting the unit out behind my radio console and resodering the thing but its working for now. I dont think i used CN2 I am pretty sure not but I would have to go look, yeah the starter wire is the only one I cut. The neatral wire is the light blue one right? Just connect that to your park brake and then there is another one that goes to your brake petal. Do you have stick? If you do you also hav eto disconnect the clutch safety switch- just look were you brake petal is touching a round switch follow the wire and there should be a white plug just pull that out. The tach wire there should work I got mine from behind the radio console. Did you find the lock and unlock yet? on the right side of your radio console is two wires that run into a relay that as silwer dots on them not sure about the wire colors. I will get back to you tommorow with the scematics I used, but I have to study for a test tommorow, hope this keeps you busy for awhile.

Nope dont have aol I do have msnmessenger, [email protected]

heh, that sucks.. so you just opened up the unit and resoldered whatever you fried? or did i misread that? the light blue one is for the e-brake. i attached that... but i was just noticing that the listing you copied has a neutral safety wire... *Shrug*. and i thought i didn't have to disconnect the clutch safety switch due to reservation mode? *Shrug* i know where the plug is though, so i'll yank it if i need to.. but i really just want to get the remote and main unit communicating.. that would make me feel a whole lot better.

i know (i think) which relays behind the radio you are talking about... but i thought that it was just for the driver's side because if i unplugged the harness, the passenger lock still worked... (?). it would be cool if you could tellm ewhat two wires you're using though... i'm using one that's brown/blue but i havn't tried to find the other one yet... i'm getting kinda pissed that the remote and main unit won't communicate properly.. heh

though i did realize shortly ago that i don't have the accessory wire hooked up... i don't think that would give me the problems i'm having though.. in fact i'm pretty sure of it.. but i'm going to hook up what i can...

i've got a bit more info now.. i'll be able to advance.. but i sitll don't know what i can do about the communication issue...

thanks

Yeah one of my friends helped me with the resoldering, everything seems to work for now anyways. Here is a website that I used most of the times. turboeclipse.com/2gwire.html
The things that you have to connect before it will communicate is the door locks, parking lights, and the alarm input wire(I just jooked mine up to the courtesy light-I tried to find the door ajar light behind the cluster bc that would get both doors and trunk) I think that is what I had hooked up besides the remote start to get everything to communicate. Yeah the clutch switch as to be out otherwise you cannot remote start, bc that as to be depressed for the car to start. Yeah reservation mode takes some time to get use to- you have to let the foot brake go before you can pull the ebrake- or at least cant keep your foot on the brake when you turn the keys off, your car would be still running when you pull the keys out and reservation mode was set correctly- untill you get out and close the door it would shut off and the remote would play a chime

Hope this helps for now need help just ask- make sure you get the door locks then I am sure it will communicate-remember once you have the doors hooked up you have to do the whole thing with taking the battery out of the remote turn key 5 times etc.

Here is a wiring diagram I put together

I thought our hatches/trunk were not electric? I thought that were a pully/cable setup.

Yes but there is still a light that goes on when you open the trunk.

So what benefit will tying in just the ajar light do?
