just did a compression check on the eclipse.broke all 4 plug wires, but i did it,LOL.should it still be just under 190 psi after 12 years???i thought it was a bit odd being almost standard compression after that many years and almost 160000 miles.whatta u guys think?

yea i thought those numbers were high for being so old,but im not complaining.columbusdsm said its prob just a bit of carbon built up in the cylinders.either way,i didnt have anything lower then 185.it was like 189 or so across.i drive like an ass so i dunno,LOL.

LOL just keep doing what you do then ... seems like it's working. :thumb:

Heeheehee..... you guys will love my compression numbers....

1- 26psi
2- 25psi
3- 35psi
4- 28psi

I think my rings are all shot :thumb:

no, it won't start. I've been trying every trick in the book to try to raise compression. I got it up higher, but still not enough. Here's what I did.

Pull all spark plugs and unhook ignition and fuel system. Just pull the elec harness on the fuel and ignition. Then take Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) and pour about 1 1/2 table spoons into the spark plug chamber. Turn the car over for a min or 2, and repeat. drain oil and replace with clean oil. This will help reseal the combustion chamber. Run the car for a while. It will SMOKE like mad, but it will go away.

I thought it was crazy, but I'll try anything right now. It wants to start, but won't. I'll run a compression check again and let you know how much it raised it. Might help out a dying car someday.

cause to replace them the engine has to be ripped down. If I rip it down, I'm not putting stock parts back in. Its getting all forged internals. I can't bring myself to rip my engine down twice in 2 months. Its not worth it. I'll just wait until winter. Gives me time to buy my internals anyway.

Try putting it that bardahl stuff into your oil, it could possibly fix little ring issue to get at least into the 90-100 psi :)

Good luck. My car is smoking blue but the compression is still high, 185 psi. Crazy, because I don't even loose oil or anything. :p
