Hey

I have a buddy looking at a 240sx with a 2 way clutch type LSD in it (i know this is a dsm forum but dsmers are just more knowledgeable :shhh: :sneaky: ). Anyways he took it on a test drive and he said at low speeds it was loud. Said it would almost make a clunking noise similar to a bad cv axle but a lot less frequently. The guy selling it said it was set to a harsh setting and that was normal. Now I did a little bit of research on the subject and it sounds fesible but I couldn't find information on how they were at low speeds. I know how the clutches move out towards the casing to provide more grip to "lock" the wheels but like I said i'm just not sure and wanted to get your guys opinions on it.

So does it sounds like this LSD is on its way out or is it just set harsh as the owner says? Thanks in advance you guys!:thumb:

Clutch-type LSDs almost always get softer as they wear out. Those symptoms fit the story you were told.
