    So steve brought the laser back for more love. We are doing the fuel, air and cooling upgrades now. Im happy to report after 5 hours i got the fuel line off without breaking anything. We are running the 255 for now with some fic high z injectors to start. Im going to be starting the intercooler install shortly

    Not really a rebuild per se as it only has 30k original, this is more like my vision of what the 1G Laser could have been if it was given the kind of love we are giving it now right off of the showroom floor, stay tuned as there are more goodies coming.. :hellyeah:

    Its gunna be a nice street beast, we are staying with pump gas for the time being so im hoping for mid 300 whp conservatively. The worst part is done imo, i hate removing fuel pump hangers for the first time. Such a nightmare.....although i have to say I havent left one broken bolt on this car. Working on someone elses property is not the same as your own. You need to work like someones watching you. Thats how i feel anyway. More to come guys

    Man I forgot what a stock engine bay looks like. So much clutter, needs some rearranging so there's extra room for activities.

    Taking on this job I completely underestimated the work involved..... youd think id remember after doing it a bunch of times... every car is different as they all use different parts. Good news is the cars finished..... The work completed are as follows
    Fic 1150 high z injectors
    6an fuel line and return, 6an filter
    Fuel pressure regulator
    Fuel pump rewire with walbro 255
    Ets front mount with race intercooler
    Custom o2 housing with dump tube
    Volk racing front cross member
    Mishimoto radiator with slim fans
    Digital ignition system arc 2 with cop
    Kiggly hla
    Jmf catch can- wheel well mounted to maintain wipers- 8an baffled valve cover
    Car already has my custom 3 inch turboback exhaust, fp 68hta, dsm link with speed density, fp intake

    Well boys, cars finished..... Was having serious tuning issues until I realized my vacuum source to my fpr wasnt adequate. I couldnt figure out why i was going lean at wot despite throwing global at it. Well after correcting the isssue the cars seeing 40lbs min on the 68hta.... cars starting to wake up. Im gunna go to 20 and leave it there, I discussed with steve for safety sake and 93 we are gunna stay here

    ^^ I was flowing 51lbs/min on my 68hta 30psi on pump gas. no meth. completely stock block. fp2 cams. One of my all time favorite setups.

    Oh wow, you were pushing that little thing hard. My goal for steves car is low 400whp...ive noticed alot of guys with similar airflow numbers in the mid 350 range. 20 psi should get us close i think

    On pump gas that's probably about where I was on a conservative tune.. low 400awhp. For comparison flowing 44lbs/min on an evoIII 16g at 24 psi I made 292awhp/264 tq on a mustang dyno. conventional wisdom says add 20% for dyno jet.. so..

    292x.20 = 58.4. 58.4+292 = 350.4awhp
    264x.20 = 52.8. 52.8+264 = 316.8tq

    ^^^ Dyno pulls were on an extremely hot day.. but you could use the airflow numbers for a comparative reference..

    Before anyone jumps on me about it, those are the actual numbers my car put down, followed by a "guesstamite" of what it would of shown had I been on a dynojet.

    Obviously switching to e-85 or any kind of meth injection would net some sizeable gains. That being said.. v168hta was my absolute favorite turbo.. my current hx40 would be if it wasn't for me having a lot of issues with the BEP housing it's currently in.

    I am actually running the 68HTA V2, not sure how they compare except for reading that the V2 spools slower than the V1 and pushes a bit more air?

    Flows a bit more air, spools slower. I had it on my car and pulled it off. it's attainable on pump gas but not at 20psi

    So what, 24 PSI? Any particular reason you pulled it off, was it that bad or did you just upgrade?

    Im completely against pump gas minus e85 obviously. I think that if your serious about making power you shouldnt cheap out on fuel. Either mix it with some non leaded race gas or keep the car at a lower power level. Why spend several thousand dollars and cheap out on fuel? Using c16 for the first time was better than having sex for the first time.... just saying :)
