I have what seems to be either an ebay or homemade sheet metal intake on my car and if im doin 3rd gear pull or something once i shift into 4th i feel like the power really falls off a noticable amount..

Mind you that i have a 16g on 15 psi with a 255pump and stock injectors and sidemount intercooler still, do you think that intake is possibly too big or not engineered correctly and is hurting my power up top?

I cant remember the links, but there are proven results guys at like 600+hp don't get any significant gains from the top end with a SMIM, especially when giving up a lot of low end torque.
go with a 1g or cyclone IM and that loss should go, but definitely get some more fuel mods and a good tune, that will give you the most improvement.

For turbos that only wake up in the way upper part of the powerband and have uber slow spool is where the SMIM excels. Wish I had links, hope someone else can give some more insight on there use.

Also check Boost Leaks and consider getting a FMIC

No i dont have a logger and i rarely beat on the car because i know 15 psi on an evo III 16g is on the border line for 450's but the car always runs a constant temp and nothing out of the ordinary seems to happen the car doesnt studder or anything like its running to lean either.. and as soon as i figure out the issues with my shifter cables after i just finished my tranny swap ecmlink is the very first thing to be ordered along with a wideband and fmic to go with my 550 injectors.. Hoping to go high 12s in a few weeks :)

Yea its hard to tell whats going on without a log and no tuner. And if your getting link why no go big on the injectors. No sense on buying them twice after you max those. Which a 16g will do.

For now i have the 550 injectors so im just going to throw them on and run them just so i can shut my dad up about beating me in his camaro LOL next time ill grab 1000 or bigger just so i wont have to worry about them.. i should be able to pull a high 12 off with those 550s though right?
