How do i get more horse power out of my eclipse i own a 95 Mitsubishi Eclipse Rs with a 4g63 engin. I dont have the money to go out and buy a turbo kit to bolt on to it. But the block has been shaved the heads have been ported and polished. Ive got bigger exhaust on it, the throttle body came out of a turbo charged eclipse thats from what the guy said that i bought the car from. Ive also got a new air intake but im going to replace it with a better one. And so i belive im running out of ways to get horse power from what i can think of that is the cheapest way to get it. And is the 4G63 engin come in a 95 eclipse j/w because the guy i bought the car from rebuilt the engin and he sounded like he pulled the engin out of a diffrent mitsubishi so im just woundering if this is the original engin.
 
yap that is the 420a...If he told you it was a 4g63 you got ganked.
 
in the bottom end of the engin ive got a tapping noise from the crank cuz its egg shapped :mad: so i had a good friend of mine that came over and he owns a 02 acura rsx type s or something like that and hes put nos in that thing but he came over and said that it is a 4g63 engin. and the trany is blue cuz he dropped the engin and installed a stage three racing clutch by center force i have the stock clutch out behind my house. but the car will run it will run 140mph.
 
o yea and another thing i have no idea what a 420a looks like cuz i just bought this car about a month ago and im only 15 so i dont know my way around mitsubishi very well.
 
damn it i for got another thing im not going to complain if it is a diffrent motor becuse i only paid $3,800 for this car
 
this is stock 420 and TB is not of 4g63 best way is do not touch this car
 
the valve cover is diferent , timing is on another side it is a totaly diferent motor
 
ok i need to replace my crank in the motor so were should i look for a crank. and what mitsubishi do u think the motor came out of. i belive the guy said was a galant.
 
that is the 420a. Everything is different. And opposite, tranny/motor mount etc etc...

Ok, I'm not trying to be mean but I just posted and refreshed the screen and you already have 3 more posts all of different questions. You are starting to get out of hand, You can easily find all your questions by using the search function. Search, You WILL find what you are looking for. It's obvious this guy tried ripping you off, Dont believe your friends, If they told you it was a 4g63, They dont know. Also, Same with the guy that sold you this car.

WOW you bought a car that you have no idea about! Well man the 4g63 motor comes with a turbo and the 420a is naturally aspirated..You will find the 420a in a dodge neon. Like everyone said there is no way that car is a 4g63 engine. Look and do some reasearch on this site. Check the tuning guide go check out some galleries and you will see what a 4g63 is. The tranny looks like it was just powdercoated blue or something.

The guy that sold you that car really had no clue what he was talking about or he just took you to school and sold you a 2g non turbo with a rod knock and a side of rice for $3800
 
well 420 is crap if you looking do power buy gs-t or gsx,your motor is chrysler not mitsu and too much work do excenge so forget about it or sell this car and get real mitsu...
 
Don't turn this into a 4g63/420a war. It will get locked very fast. And it is possible to put a 4g63 turbo motor into the 420 engine bay. There is a turbo shop in my town doing it for a kid, It is very expensive and you need alot of money/parts/equipment to get the job done.

Just search, You'll find everything you're looking for. Also, If he told you that was the 4g63, I wouldent be suprised if its a stock clutch you have in there too. He obviously lied to you and knew that you did not know much about these cars.
 
I HATE when people only put half a body kit on the car. Kits on POS cars are bad enough ontop of it they half ass it so the front and rear of the car sit lower than the sides.

Anyway you paid 3,800 for a 420a powered 95 Eclipse RS with a busted motor. Its obvious you know nothing about cars but letting you know short of buying a new motor the crank is prolly the most expensive thing to replace. You got owned huge.

And for your question best way to make it faster is to sell it and get a real car. Or drive it off a ledge or tall bridge itll go fast then. :thumbdown
 
well thanks for the help anyways. im not happy with the results i got but thanks. but im going to go to the guys house that i bought the car from tomorrow and ask him what tha hell he did to it. but the guy that came over and told me too look at what was the tapping noise read a lil tag that is tagged to the car and said it was a 4g63. but before the guy rebuilt the engin it never had turbo even before he had it. but once again thanks for the help im not happy with the results i got but thanks. But one more thing if the car had a 4g63 engin in it in the first place then how in the hell did he put the engin in there. from one of the pics of a 4g63 it looks like the engin has a complete diffrent setup when its sitting in the car. so it would make sense to me that the motor that is in my car is the original becuase the guy i bought it from seems like he wouldnt go to all of the trouble of moving motor mounts and everything.
 
the guy i had come look at the car has an 04 acura rsx type s with the same setup of engin hes got a dohc 2.0L 16valve engin with the same setup as mine sorta but his is newer and its a honda. but i guess i will call the guy with the acura and get him to come over and look at the engin better and to confirm what u all are saying. but i belive u all are right. but i belive im going to go out into some junk yards around my house and look for a 95 eclipse rs thats wrecked and yank the motor out of it and drop it in my car.
 
your car never had a 4g63 in it, every non turbo 95-99 eclipse/talon had the chrysler 420a, except the spyder convertibles that had the mitsubishi 4g64 2.4 liter non turbo...and dont listen to those saying the 420a is crap, it has potential, but will cost thousands of dollars to reliably produce the same power as a stock 4g63t
 
The motor that comes standard in the RS IS the 420a, there was no swap dude, you just got swidled. The 420a is naturally aspirated, and cannot be turbo from the factory. Educating yourself is the best way to know what people are talking about and not get screwed in the future.

BTW how the heck did this end up under "Advanced Tech"? This is a newbie type question.
 
The guy you bought this car from deserves a kick in the nuts.

The car does not have a 4g63, And if it did..No, It didnt.
You got scammed and he lied right to you. Have him show you reciepts of all of this. And also, Why would you go from a 4g63 turbo car and reverse it all to the basemodel? Thats doesnt make sense. You could buy one for how much it would cost.
Plain and simple : you got taken over. Take it up with this guy that sold you the car.
