No. The flex plate is between the motor & transmission. You need to separate them to get access to the flex plate which is also bolted to the the end of the crank shaft like the flywheel on manual transmissions.

The above answers are correct as I've just changed my plate as well.

What's wrong with your current one? Or you just upgrading as a precaution?
