So I recently had my car into the dealer (drivers front wheel fell off! It was due to a recalled control arm assembly, check into that if you haven't already) ... and when I got it back, my (stock) infinity stereo deck won't work. It is asking for a "code" and wants me to enter a 4-digit number. I guess this is a security code, and that it got reset when my battery was unplugged. Anyone know the code or where I can find it?

thanks!

yea.. It's a security feature to deter theft b/c when it loses power, you need the code.. There should be a serial number on the top of your unit.. Give that number to your local mitsu dealer, and then can look up the 4 digit code.. (have the car with you or they might suspect that you stole the radio and just need the code. :p )

Is it turning on, but not putting out sounds? When I first got my car, it would load cd's and what-not, but would not put out any sounds. I just replaced it with my Pioneer from my old car, but I'd like to sell it (Pioneer) and make some money if the stock one will work.

No.. in fact, after I tried guessing 4 or 5 codes it will only say "off" on the LCD when I turn in on. It won't even ask for codes anymore. I don't suppose anyone knows what to do about this ??

Correct.

Dont keep guessing codes tho, it will just piss you off when you get it wrong over and over. Just call mitsu.

You need to take the radio out first of all, then there is a serial number on the back of it you need. if you already know how to take it out than do so, should take you 5 minutes, then call the dealer ship and talk to the service manager/technician tell them they need to give you the code or else they WILL try to charge you i thinks its like 60 bucks= bs. I hate the dealer ship they dont know anything. also ask them to tell you how to enter it. if you dont know how to take the radio out and prefer them to do it for you, they should be obligated to doing so just take the car back and talk to the service manager. and wait for the car as they do it.

Also, when you do this stuff, like disconnecting your battery, the stereo requires that you have power for an hour before you can get it to even turn on. It's pretty dumb if you ask me, but my friend and I got his to work eventually. :thumb:

I posted above how it worked for me, but also in my search for the problems with the code. I remember vaguely reading somewhere something about leaving the key in the on position for X amount of time to clear it to ask for the code again.. I don't remember where, and I don't remember if that works either.

Yea well you were supposed to get a card with the 4-digit security code on it. Luckily the previous owner taped the card on the inside of my owners manual. Yea looks like you are going to have to just call your local mitsu dealer. :dsm:

do a search on "code" there have been several threads about this..

i know cause i went through it and did that..

dont pay to get the code from mitsu.. they will TRY and charge u.. but if u get the serial number fromt he deck.. they can get it for u.. free of charge.. if they still try to charge u.. give em a big "FUGK YOU!"

i left my battery unhooked for a few hours and i got that lovely radio code message. I just bought the vehicle used from a dealership and i was wondering if it is possible to get the code with just the VIN no of your vehicle. i read the other posts saying to just get the serial no off the back of the radio but i dont really have time to take it apart for awhile. what is the point in having a security code if all the theif has to do is read the serial no off the back of the radio. needing the vin no. would make more sense imo.

Most dealers will want to see the car or pull the number them selves, this will reduce chances of theft. Some dealers may give it to you over the phone, especially if you have built a relaitonship with them. It is easy to get the number. The trim piece that goes around the radio just pops out, you may have to use something to pry it out. The code is actually on the side and should be easilly visable with the trim piece off.

i read the article on removing the radio, i will try and see if i can read the no tommorow by just pulling off the trim piece. thanks

well i took off the plastic trim and wooooohaa the security code was written on the top of the radio!!!! and to think i drove all the way to madison for halloween this weekend without a radio and the code was right there the whole time :p

i had the code when i bought the car.

My fix?

i threw the dam piece of crap out the window on the way to best buy to get a better one.

but thats sweet if it was on top of the thing and saved you the bs of talking to satan.

Hey guys, I have a problem with my stock stereo system in my 1997 Eclipse GST. My car battery was disconnected and reconnected and the anti theft system on the stock Infinity stereo was activated because I did not get any sound AT ALL. I put a CD in and it showed that it was playing but no sound, same with radio as well. I checked the manual and the security code was written on it but the procedures are confusing as hell. I tried it a number of times and it never works and instructions doesn't make sense.

If anyone of you guys have experienced this, please give me a simple and clear step by step on how to put in the code and get rid of the antoi theft so I can bump some tunes in my Clipse.

Thanks in advance!!!

ok it is a 4 digit code just keep tapping button 1 till you get the number you need then proceed to button number 2 amd tap it to you get to your second code number do this for the last two then press your tape button. Also if this code doesnt work you have 2 more tries till it locks for a day or so, to were you can not enter the code. If this is not the right code, take off the trim piece and there is a label on the top write down the serial number call the mitsu dealer give them the number and they will give you a code. hope this helps!

take it to a mitsu dealer...Also when you turn it on does it say code or something like that

Wow, I can actually add something to this talent pool. I know the answer to this one.

Turn your car's ignition to the ON position, but don't start it. Leave it sitting that way for 70 minutes. Turn the ignition off and back on and it will say CODE again. Enter the code as Malice suggested. I know it's weird. That's what the dealer told me to do and it worked.

Good luck!
