Can I run without an Oil Cooler?

The only advantage to a oil/water heat exchanger is that it helps heat up the oil when the engine is cold for compleat warm up of the engine.

The stock 2g oil cooler is really small. It looks like the cooling it does is minimal. Lots of cars dont have oil coolers stock. As long as you drive the way you mentioned you should be fine.

Also since you have the AT radiator, I would just run the oil through that. That lower passage of the radiator should cool the oil much more then the small filter housing cooler. That is if it can handle the oil pressure. I dont know how much pressure the ATF is under when it moves through there.

That's a good question. Can anyone answer that? What is the pressure on the ATF as it passes through the lower radiator? Would it be higher, lower, or the same as engine oil pressure?

Thanks,

Its low pressure like 20psi.

I have a 7-bolt external oil cooler setup im looking for like 50 bucks for it. Its from a evo 3 ss lines and cooler and oil filter housing

Low pressure on the ATF? 20 PSi? That probably means that I can't run the oil via the lower radiator because oil pressure can hit upwards of 100 psi. Correct?

Yes that is why the tranny cooler has only little clamps holding the line on not high pressure lines.
