I HAve An Iceman intake the one that goes the whole way down to the front air dam, Can I run this in the rain? I know I can't throug deep water but would just road spray hitting the filter would this be enough to cause motor damage? It runs alot better with the extended piece instead of just running the shorti. Always Cold Air I guess. Input would be appreciated thanks.

i have an AEM CAI and although its stupid to not have the bypass valve in, ive had it on for almost 2 years w/ no problems w/ regular rain. i even took the black piece in the bumper out and put a grill in and still no problems. to be on the safe side you should put it on. but just cuz of my experience, dont blame me if you dont do it and your engine gets hydrolocked

I have heard of people that have sucked the fins off the bypass valve into there intake manifold and really messed there motor up. I had an AEM cai for a long time and drove through the ran and never had a problem the only ime that something will go wrong is when it becomes fully submerged.

Zero is right...as long as it's not submerged you should be okay. I've also taken out the black housing so air goes directly to the filter. Gone through rain and I myself was worried that it would get water into my intake manifold. Nothing seems to be wrong. Got really dirty though...maybe I should clean it

I have Injen Full CAI and had to drive this girl home late a night and it was sprinkling (15min drive, no big deal) On the way it started POURING and I got a little nervous but you know girls are convincing and she HAD to be home so.... I drove (nervous as hell) in the pouring rain and at a stop light my dumb ass almost raced a teg that was reving LOL/ NO DAMAGE was done. I think of it like a straw

The stra has to be submerged to suck up water right? Your not really going to suck up enough for gravity to miss, hittin a puddle or something but I guess it's possible. My friend made a good point tho, if you cut a slit in the straw (like a BPV) its damn near impossible to suck water up past that right? I dont know, im still not decided but now im runnin with no BPV and I'm not too worried. Besides, ill be in Arizona in 3months, I doubt it rains much there.

I hear a BPV is pointless, but I guess it cant hurt

I dont have the bypass valve on mine and never had a problem, drove through huge puddles too

I figured I wouldn't hydo-lock, I just wasn't sure of some of the moisture getting into the intake. So far so good. It hasn't burped or missed yet in the past 6 days of rain. This weather sucks, but it could be worse.
