I'm looking to pick up a new camera. I want something that is a little better than what I typically buy. But, I don't want to completely break the bank. I was looking at Canon Rebels, and so far I like them. But I'm kind of clueless about most cameras.

I'm not a hardcore photography person, but I want a good camera that takes GOOD pictures. I'm a little tired of the little digital canon that I have now.

Anybody have any good suggestions. I'm looking to spend around $600-$800. Less, if someone has a good suggestion. Doesn't have to be top of the line shit. Just something that is good and will work well for an amateur such as myself.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I own a nikon coopix L1. paid 40 for it on ebay. Not, bad quality for an amatuer first timer with a camera. I'm a car porn director in the making LOL

Here's pix taken over a year ago and a quick video I did today.

I'm looking for DSLR more than anything. One that an amateur such as myself can use.

I have a canon t2i, I use it mostly for video, however it takes very good stills. Depending on what you want to use it for will determine the level of DSLR. If your just doing basically photography get a Canon Rebel XTI or XSI I dunno what the latest model is. Its a cheap body but you can then save up for nice glass. However if your looking to do some video or what some added features, the T2i is great but they just released the t4i which is like the t2i on roids and is pretty much a 7d. It has the new chip in it. Same sensor as 7d 60d and it shoots amazing video. It also has some cool features like stereo mic, touch screen, and I believe it swivels. It can be had to just around $800.

I have a T2i, but the lens makes the biggest quality improvement. You can find my Flickr by my forum username here. Decent samples, and horrible ones, too.

It looks like it may end up being a T3i or a Nikon D5100. Just cause that's what they have here (Germany) at the BX. I want something that I can grow into as well. If that makes sense.

Check out DPReviews.com

Most pro-sumer cameras in the same range are VERY similar in functionality. Price lenses you want to use as well when choosing.
