Yeah, VHT is quite expensive, but then again you can use the rest of the can on other parts as well if you wanted too. Say like a steering wheel hub, fuel rail, spark plug cover though I would say your black looks pretty good the way it is. I like little accents like what you are going for, and I am too. Doing some stuff in neo-chrome so picking colors that are in that is what im trying to do. My idle surge is much more of an issue to me, though tomorrow I might remove my fuel rail and paint it while im waiting on my PC680 battery that will arrive on tuesday.

I had used the VHT on the letters on the JM Fab intake but I might remove it since to me it didnt turn out too well and polish my intake pipe to match the s90 and JM Fab. For some reason the second time I put it on the shifter cables were in a much better spot. I just hope my idle issue is gone.

I do like how the finish turned out though with the VHT. More like a matte finish than a gloss so keep that in mind. If you do want a gloss finish then you would have to spend another 20 on a clear.

I don't think you needed new ones, but the peace of mind will be nice. I would have sold you a set of used ones for $25USD shipped.

Powder coat stripping is again very hard or expensive, the last time I looked into this these were my notes "Powder coat stripper benco b17 $175/5gal plus a hefty shipping price"

No, it really isn't difficult or expensive... I used aircraft stripper ($15) and the parts came out completely bare in about an hour. 30 mins of which was just letting the stripper soak in. If your time is worth more than the cost of buying them new, then by all means, save yourself the time. I rarely value my time at +$100/hr.
@ist dwa where are you coming up with this information? how many times have you stripped a part that was powder coated? What was expensive/difficult about it?

I have stripped PC with aircraft stripper also no issues.
But I really wanted to bump this for a good write up on the zinc yellow chromate that is awesome.

Yeah, I would like to know about the write up on the zinc stuff. I know you can brass pretty easy with a torch and brass wire wheel. I dont know if it works on all metals, but it works on steel.

I did the exact same thing as you when I had my cam gears powdercoated - I forgot to tell the coater to tape them off. They came out just like yours.

Like some other people on here said, I just ran them on my wire wheel in the shop for a few minutes - it really didn't take that long. They've been on the car every since, no problems.

I was using the wire wheel. It was HARD. I think he threw on multiple coats. Its THICC

    He had off gassing issues.
