Ok this is a little weird and i am gonna try to explain what my car is doing or do the best I can.. I bought this car "96 eagle talon tsi fwd 2.0 turbo.. all stock when I bought it.. Ran great no problems what so ever .. Drove it for a while and wanted to do a couple little things to try and squeeze a little more boost out of my tiny pos t-25. So I bought a aftermarket boost gauge, manual boost controller, and a aftermarket BOV got it all hooked up correctly but it did not change my boost what so ever. Even with the boost controller all the way open and the bov tuned perfectly nothing.. Stock bov no boost controller - 12 psi max .. aftermarket bov no boost controller - 12 psi max , aftermarket bov with boost controller all the way open ran - 12 psi max.. So, No change. I tried to research the problem and I remember one person telling me something was stuck shut in the turbo or something so I said to the hell with it and put the stock BOV back on because I liked the sound better then the aftermarket bov.. but kept the boost controller on and turned all the way up ""knowing that I was only getting 12 psi max, I didn't think about taking it off or adjusting it"". yesterday I drove a longer trip then what is usually taken with the talon, roughly 6 hrs of almost straight driving during this drive I started feeling a difference in the cars ability to pick up speed wasn't wanting to like it usually did. After getting back from the trip I drove to the store and to work and the car started feeling like it wasn't getting good boost or the turbo was dieing or just not working anymore. The car still drove but just wouldn't get up and go like it use to. So tonight I was like hell i don't know so just messing with shit I put the aftermarket BOV back on and took it for a drive.. WTF The car ran like a raped ape. Got up to 18 psi once ""something I have never seen on this boost gauge or out of this car for the least"" but the car bogged out when I got to 18 so I backed off it. Me being skeptical I ran it hard again a couple times each time getting up to 18 - 19 psi with no cut out no chugging no stall nothing... The car ran perfectly fine up to 19 psi on a mostly stock t-25 no noticeable problems except maybe a little rich gas or oil smell which i attributed to a broken manifold stud i know about.. so my question is what happen and what is going on now?? I thought a stock t-25 or engine couldn't handle that amount of pressure, did something break loose? should I be worried about a bigger problem? should I dial the boost back down?? I am kinda in new territory here any personal thoughts would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks and sorry about the length i wanted to try and explain this the best i can..

it cant really handle it. thats too much boost. You need to take that boost controller off or turn the boost down till you know what your doing. You cant just throw a mbc and turn the boost up to go faster, you need supporting mods first. You need more fuel and some kind of tuning device like dsmlink or at least a safc.. But to answer your question, the change in boost can be due to a bad boost controller or bad wastegate. What kind of boost controller do you have? ebay ones usually suck(the colored ones)

I know what i am doing to a point. I know the motor needs supporting mods, especially dsmlink/eprom ecu to get the fuel/air map good but as of right now I am just pushing a little more power out of a shitty t-25 boosting up to 14-15 psi on stock setup can be handled... which is a little enough gain over 12 psi for my likings right now.. till my 6 bolt gets done and put in i am not dropping money into a 7 bolt engine that has 170,000 miles on it. I already have a rewired evo fuel pump with 660 rc engineering injectors autometer wideband 20g turbo etc.. dsmlink and socketed ecu/eprom will be down the road none of this stuff will do any good on a 7 bolt with a t25 with high mileage.. but yes you are correct its not a smart way to go but it is definitely a fun way to go :D just wanted to know why it would all of a sudden fix itself and how bad can 19 psi be on the engine/turbo and also how the engine/turbo took 19 psi and not back out from either not having enough fuel or to much boost?? oh and i have a hallman ES manual boost controller, plan on getting a electronic soon as my 6 bolt gets finished.

bump.. no idea guys?? i went out today and dialed it back three notches it took me down to a max of 8 psi boost so i dialed it back up a notch no change dialed it up another notch and it boosts to 16 psi so as of right now i will keep it there and see how things go.. still curious as to why all of a sudden i am able to change boost and why my car is handling 19 psi without chugging..
