boost question

New to boost with my tsi awd but I'm wondering since 1g's push 7ish pounds stock I was wondering if I would have any problems setting my car to 10 or 12ish psi? I'm running all stock. Everything motor wise is bone stock I'm more curious if it will really throw off my a/f and risk leaning out, looking into tuning and its.. complicated haha just looking for some outside input from people who know more about boost.

You have been misinformed about the amount of boost your car runs..its 12-13 stock..you can do 15 tops on the injectors and T2smal turbo

1G stock boost is about 8psi, 2G is 10-12, you can safely run 15 psi with no problems, just by doing the boost control solenoid restrictor removal your boost will end up at about 13-15psi so there is no need for a manual boost controller to up the boost

cliff notes: Take the BCS off the car and remove the vac lines. Look at the two vacuum ports, one of them will have a noticeably smaller opening** -- this is the restrictor. Just thread a drywall or similar screw in there and yank it out and then reconnect the BCS and lines as before. There are pics on pg 3 of the link i posted

**If both vac ports on the BCS are the same size then the restrictor may already be removed, doubtful in your case though

Norcal is right... i assumed you had one already but if not definitely get one before you start upping the boost.

After you get the boost gauge, get yourself a good datalogger before doing any more modifications. THAT is the only way to tell what is "safe" for your motor; not 20 guys on a car forum who've never seen, touched, or driven your car in person. No offense guys, but let's agree that we can't tell what's "safe" without knowing knock, IDC, airflow, etc. etc.

Also, do a boost leak test. No sense in turning it up if you're going to leak half of it away through your throttle body shaft seals and hardened lower fuel injector seals.

Well yeah this is my project car and I'm doing timing belt and new vac lines and the whole shabang so after that I was gonna see about uping boost and I've already got my boost, wideband, and oil pressure gauges coming via ups I was gonna get a mbc but with that boost control mod I shouldn't really need it asap. I just wanna get it running good before a park it for vacation then when I get back ill have it running like a champ
