hey wassup guys. I just got back from iraq and have been working on my car recently. Anyways I have some mad boost leak with my stock t28 turbo....i have it set to 18 psi but in 2nd gear it goes to 20psi and in 3rd it spikes up to 25psi!!!! Anyways it blows off my freaking hoses so my car bucks sometimes at 4krpm....it gets pretty annoying sometime. Anyways, what would cause the boost spike? I have upper and lower RRE icp'ing w/a 1st gen bov, a downpipe and a 5zigen 2.5" catback exhaust....help! I got to smoke these new mustangs on post here at ft. bragg!!!!

make sure your wastegate is working properly. If it is make sure vacuum hoses to boost controller and wastegate arent leaking. I would also try hooking up your stock bcs and see if still spikes, it could be your boost controller.

Two posts so far that I've read today have had nothing more than that.... it's awesome.
It was late and I was old and tired. :)

RLxO2, besides boost leak testing, switch the pressure source from the BOV line to the compressor housing and see if situation improves. Also, T25 is known to spike about 3psi before it settles and drops off after 5K. In any case, you have no business boosting 18psi+ without a logger with stock fuel systems, not to mention it will be blowing hot air at those boost levels anyway.

He has a T28. I almost posted the same thing until I read it more carefully. Still, you are right about the logger and more fuel. :thumb:

He said he has a stock turbo.... stock would be t-25... I think he got them confused. His vehicle profile said nothing about the upgraded turbo.

haha, sorry, i meant t-25. I was drunk at the time and was pissed off about the situation of my car. I have a turbo sitting here next to me which i thought was a t28 when i bought it but obviously doesnt bolt up to my exhaust manifold. Its a garrett .42 a/r made by TEC. Up for sale i guess.

Well, if i dont have a major boost leak, what would cause the car to buck violently at about 4k rpm? I felt it before when i had loose i/c piping but i spent about 2 hours today adjusting the clamps and hoses and the biatch still does that. :notgood:

thanks for that info, well i have the boost set at 18psi in first but like i said before, for some reason it hits 20psi and almost 25psi in 3rd...dont want to blow up the engine.

No worries, it happens.

Post it up in the classifieds.

Even if you adjust all your clamps, you still can have a boost leak. Run a Boost Leak Test to verify. It's the only way to check for boost leaks. The only way.
20 psi steady for 30 seconds or more will show a system without leaks.
Start at your throttle body elbow, use soapy water, and spray the entire intake manifold area. Watch for bubbling water. Next move to the LICP and then to the turbo inlet.

Depending on what kind of tune you're running, 18 psi may be okay. You have 880cc injectors with a supra fuel pump etc. So, no one can tell you if 18 psi on your particular car is safe or not. You might want to take it to a dyno and get a good dyno base tune.

i guess what im really asking is that would a boost leak under full boost make the car feel like someones slamming on the brakes for a split second? I have no idea what that could be other than a boost leak...gyah.
