Body kit or None you decide

In my opinion eclipses look great either way stock or not. And if you have the funds and time go for it. All this crap about being a cop magnet cops pull over any car any day so enjoy your ride bro keep us updated with it

If you're planning on putting power down in a DSM with a performance exhaust, cops are going to notice that more than the body kit. I say yes to a body kit only if you put alot of thought into doing it right. The look that you want, along with how it flows with your cars rims, hood, exhaust, ect. Make sure you think about how low the kit is going to drop the front and back of the car, and keep in mind the suspension you will be running. It would suck to put all that money and effort into a car and not be able to drive into your own driveway or a gas station.

Agree with everyone else, no body kit. Lower it, put a big sway bar on the rear, some strut bars and go take some corners. Then when you have some extra cash(like the stuff you want to spend on the body kit) order some coil overs and a urethane bushing kit. Trust us.

body kits are rice.

God I hate when people say this! I'm curious what you people call it when the new Shelby Mustang GT's and Cobra's roll by with their enlarged front air dam's and aggressive bodylines... "Ugh, that's so Wheaty! :toobad:"

I agree that triple stack rear wings with neon green or baby blue paintjobs are ricey, but bodykits?? I agree that some kits are absolutely hideous and still others that are not bad looking can be completely ruined when not put together the right way, but to generalize that "bodykits are rice." What's next, drifting suddenly becoming too ricey for people to watch? After all, it doesn't even matter which one of them goes across the finish line first... how ricey is that. Or, Carbon Fiber hoods suddenly becoming too ricey.

I agree, and where I'm at, I guess that every modified car here is "rice" even though most of them have 500+ hp. Here the drag and drift scene is pretty big, and I'd have to say that about 98% of the race cars have body kits. It kills me when people generalize like that. So my friends 900whp supra with a wide body kit is rice, or his 650awp widebody evo is rice. I could go on forever. If its cleen and not hidious, how is it rice? I have a body kit (that I designed) and I've gotten nothing but complements on it in person, but I come online on these US based forums and all of a sudden its rice...

I think we were talking about here state side, and most of the time here people dont do it right and it looks really bad.I also agree that there isnt really a nice kit for our cars and that our cars actually look really good stock body lines just lowered.

I agree that stock eclipse 2gbs do look very good, but I have also seen a few body kits on eclipses that look good too. I was just saying that when people say that bodykits = rice, it is very ignorant.

I like the bodykit I loaded/molded onto mine. It's more flush, and the only thing that doesn't look pretty close to stock is the rear end. but it kept the stock 2g bumper style. I have a stock front bumper though, i'm probably going to just put a bumper bra on it though.

Don't forget that it should be your car, not everyone elses. Only a tool would design their car around what other people think is "right" or "attractive". If you keep your car looking stock based on what other people tell you, that is no better than throwing on a triple stacked wing because you saw it in a movie.

Has anyone but me noticed that the OP hasn't used this thread in a while? Just a thought on why this is still going.

I'd enjoy seeing some pictures of these cars. Or just yours for that matter....

I think the only good body kit is one that will add to the aerodynamics of the car, but keep it looking almost stock.

I'm not going to whore up this thread with a lot of pictures, but there are pictures of my car in post #42 and in this link. Also in this link is my friends widbody 900+whp Supra (white), his friends 500+whp Supra (blue), my friends 450hp Opel 4g63 awd swapped (with body kit) and an 11 sec RS-7. There are also pictures of my friends Evo III, GTO, and FTO. I don't believe any of these cars are rice, but I guess in some people's eyes they are because they have body kits...:toobad:

I used to like body kits until I installed one in a mustang that I owned then it all changed I couldnt lower it as I ususally do the performance changed since body kit is not just look as some people think is actually a performance since the right body kit could help you cut wind better. So in my opinion go stock it looks real nice just a little lowered some rims tints and you are good.
