hey everyone I had a build blog before but I thought I would make an actual thread, because my build blog was really hard to follow. Hope you guys enjoy.

All right so i thought i would post a few pics of my build. I currently own a GST and i was planning to build a motor and buy a shep trans and put it into the gst but i decided instead to go to AWD so i picked up a talon tsi awd on here pretty cheap and ive decided to build that. The tsi has a TRE stage 2 trans and an ACT 2600 but did come complete with a hole in the block (I bought it knowing it threw a rod)

I am a senior in high school about to graduate, I am going to Old Dominion University to study motorsports technology, my DSM was my first car and ive realized that the fwd platform in a dsm is somewhat restricting, which is what lured me to awd. Ive paid for this project my self working at a local grocery store and now at a car dealership.

Ok i havent updated this in a while but here are some more pics of the car and parts i have received. Hopefully ill be coming back on thanksgiving break from school and ill assemble the motor. I got the brembos mocked (i know im trendy with the paint) but the paint was faded on both the wing and the brembos so i tried something different.

sorry i havent updated in a while. Ive been at school, i finally came back on break and buttoned up the drivetrain. I still need to finish putting the rest of the harness in and hopefully in the next couple days ill get her running. I know the stance is meh. I will probably take the coilovers off my gst and put them on but for now this is how the car will sit.

Sorry i havent updated this in a while. I finally got back on spring break and buttoned some final things up. The car is now down at school with me. Finally got a front bumper but unfortunately i could not get the 2gb talon bumper. but i needed a bumper so i could take the car back to school. ive finally wrapped my head around speed density which is awesome. For all those thinking about doing it you should. Couple little issues i have a really bad belt squeal but my belts are tight. and i have to adjust my clutch other than that she drives like a dream

enjoy the pics :)

Hit a snag last week, and i just wanted to share with everyone my failed ACT clutch. It seems that for whatever reason the teeth on the clutch disk where the input shaft goes has completely sheared off. I dont know why or how this happened. Ive only had the clutch for 1500 miles. I drove the car very easy in this time as i was breaking in my motor. The splines on the input shaft itself seem to be fine and completely undamaged. It is weird because the teeth sheared off all at once. I was at a stop sign near my house, i shifted into first let off the clutch a bit then BOOM no gears and it made this terrible grinding noise.
enough words here are some pics

Heres a normal ACT street disc that i have laying around just for reference

Sooooooo finally time for an update. I got home from school for the summer about two weeks ago and I finally put my new clutch in. Its a south bend SSX with a dual friction disk (Kevlar and Feramic material). This is supposed to have a 600 tq capacity. I had a little trouble adjusting my clutch because I found out I did not have an OEM master cylinder in my car, but a quick switch with the one from my GS-t and the problem was solved. And all I can say is wow. This clutch is awesome im still in the break in period but the clutch feels awesome. The pedal is a little stiffer but thats to be expected and it is what im used to with both DSMs that I own. The clutch feels great and is really smooth. Everything feels great. While i was down there I replaced all my axle seals and refilled my trans with Redline MT-90. I also installed an ss clutch line as well. Hopefully once I sell my eclipse I can finally finish this car and put down some dyno numbers but right now i just need a job so I can buy a battery and CAS for the eclipse.

Thats enough talk, here are some pics. Sorry for the shitty quality I was still in my dorm

Alright guys I know I have posted in a while so I thought I would inform those who care about my life and the life of my talon. Im kind of in the stage of a mini build right now. Im switching to a t3 setup and installing a JMF drag and billet s90. I say mini build because my car has been down for over a month because im still waiting for parts I ordered a month ago. Not to mention the fact that 2 cam cap bolts broke in my head, so the head needed to come off. And then I discovered my head gasket was starting to leak. But other than the little snags everything is going pretty well.

NOW FOR THE PICS OF MY CAR AS IT SITS NOW.....

So I finally was able to get dyno tuned this week. My first trip on the dyno I made 390 and then my south bend clutch took a shit. Once I got that all sorted out I went back for a second sesh and made about 430 at 26 psi. Not too bad I was hoping for more. My turbo and exhaust manifold are the only things that are restricting me now. Hopefully in the future I will be going with a PTE 6262 and FID exhaust manifold. Im back at school now so im just enjoying driving the car.
Special thanks to the folks at PTUNING especially Andrew for helping me out and really taking care of my car.

So my friend took some shots of the talon today. I know its a dsm so nothing special but I thought some of the lighting was cool. The car is still chugging along, hopefully looking at getting a pte 6262 and FID manifold this summer.

Thats very nice! I love the splatter paint on the calipers. Definitly never seen that before.

So its been an extremely long time since I updated this thread. Some of you may know that my talon has kind of been on the back burner since i've been working on my truck. Recently I have made some progress with the car. Basically over winter break the turbo took a shit and is not rebuildable. I think that part of the reason it seems to have blown is improper oiling from the cylinder head as opposed to the oil filter housing. Anyway I pulled the turbo and have recently acquired a Holset HX40 originally I was going to go with a PTE 6262 or 6266 but I couldnt refuse the deal I got on this Holset. Hopefully sometime soon ill be able to get the Talon down to the 757 again so I can shoot for 500 AWHP

Any new updates since the HX40 has been installed? Im thinking about running the same setup here soon (2.3l stroker, Holset HX35 or HX40, 280s, etc) How is the HX40 on the street? How quick is the spool up on your setup? Sorry for all the questions but your talon has basically laid down the blueprints for my build. The only thing I'm undecided about is the HX35 or HX40. Its gonna be a DD so I'm just trying to hear from some first hand experiences! Sick Build!
