Bought these a while back from another member. OEM blue top injectors. Finally got around to sending them to the pros for service. Good thing because they were all stuck. All better now.
Trying to decide when to swap them out for the originals in my car, and see what difference it makes. When I do, I’ll send those ones in for the same service, and see how they flow on arrival.
Thought folks might be interested in seeing their flow numbers: not bad for 450’s.

As far as the car is concerned, It’s still down to repair oil leaks, but temps in the garage are warming lately, so perhaps spend next weekend in there.

I should be removing the old front case gasket crud from the block so that I can start reassembling that, but it seemed more fun to go ahead with my 92.5+ twin piston brake upgrade. Got the driver’s side together in a jiffy. The the pass side wouldn’t quite slide over the rotor. Seemed like I couldn’t move the bracket far enough. Took them both back off, disassembled and found why. Guide pins on the factory rebuilt ones are longer than oem. The other one I rebuilt with just a rubber parts kit, and it came whole from another member. Fortunately I can rob the pins from the single piston calipers I removed. Those are the same.
But I started looking more at the Nugeon-brand rebuild, and one of the piston boots looks a little off. I’m tempted to strip it all the way down now for a thorough inspection.
New Parts!?!? Dang.

After further comparison it turns out the slide pins from my 90 single piston calipers are slight smaller diameter than the twin piston caliper uses. Looks like later 91+ pins would work. Now on hold as I get some proper replacements.
Guess I’ll switch back to the front case project again.

For some reason I decided to take iff the corner lights. Then the bumper cover. Didn’t really have a good reason, but waiting on parts now for front case, etc., so have to do something, right?
Ended up drilling out a bunch of corroded special shouldered screws. Have to figure out replacements for those. Most concerning is how rusty and bent the lower bumper frame extension is. Need to reinforce that somehow.

Car bas been down since November. Finally started it yesterday. Buttoned it up and drove around the block. Two issues withthe new brakes became apparent:
1. Don’t bleed your brakes with the parking brake engaged. No, of course not…
Doh!
2. Need to pry my single-piston-sized dust plates a bit more from the 92.5+ rotors. Not liking that sound.

Took oil pressure about 10~15 sec to come up to middle value. Sounded great. I couldn’t really goose it on the test drive because the brakes were scary-spongy, but I’m thinking already the shifting is smoother and faster with less effort using the redline mt90 over oem. More research is clearly in order.
Along the way I did plug wires, front case gaskets & seals, cam seals (this may have been the worst leak, see photo), vc gasket, pcv valve, repaired the damage and corrosion to the front bumper cover supports and fasteners, front ball joints.
Basically about 1/4 of all the stuff you’re supposed to do maintenance wise when you become a new dsm owner. I’ve probably already had 1/4 of that list checked in previous periods of garage sculpture; tbelt, fuel pump, water pump, clutch, prop shaft.
So I’m like, half way to some base level of mechanical good order.

Haven’t done much work on the blue car since I did the brake upgrade. Oil leak fixes seem to all be holding! I have actually been fantasizing lately about selling it and getting something sporty and new. But I digress.

Yesterday I swapped out some blue top injectors that had been cleaned and tested by fic. Pretty easy, but…, two of the connectors sort of disintegrated a bit. I see these are still (amazingly) available, so I see a set on my horizon.
I set up a sound system in the garage that I bought for my Son’s backyard wedding in June, and rocked out.

It’s running well despite that the crumbling f.i. Plugs. Then I changed struts, shocks, and mounts all around with stock kyb parts. Not hard at all. I was finally able to use the oddball four-pin wrench I bought years ago just for this day. The old (original 1990) shocks were so worn out, and one even had a good-sized dent.
Lastly, I attempted to change the old O2 sensor. Got the special socket. Old one comes out ok, but I believe it buggerred the threads in the housing. Couldn’t get the new one to grab right, but screwed it in, and just when it started to torque, it went loose again. I got it to sort of tighten in there, but not great.

So classic three steps forward, one back. I have a 2g manifold and O2 housing, but I’m dreading that repair. Hoping it will drive fine for a bit, like until next summer, before I tackle that.

Likely this is my last update for this build. I put the car on Bringatrailer.com no-reserve, and it closed on Sunday at $7,300. Fairly dissapointed with that result, I have to admit. There was a 1979 VW Rabbit Diesel that sold for $8k, and it had only 20k less miles than my eclipse. Even in stock form that's a 150hp difference. I included every spare part, literature, and special tools that I have collected for the car. Out of this platform for good, as much as I do appreciate it. Fortunately the auction price really had no consequence for me at this point, I was really just looking to move on from this car, and it appears I have accomplished that. I knew I would never make back all the money I spent on it, but just a bit deflating to see it end so low in the bidding.

Buyer should be arranging pickup by next week end. The availability and quickly rising price of parts was the main factor in letting it go. Trying to mix a hobby car and a DD was not working out very well for me, especially wrenching in the winter. My wife never liked the car, and recently suggested I go buy a new WRX (Ummmm, OK?!!). That was not an option 5 years ago when I bought the eclipse. Not all change is bad.

I'm keeping the Dodge, which is easier to work on, and has better parts availability.
Aloha-

Congrats on the auction sale! I’d be a little disappointed too as your car is certainly one that’s in a smaller and smaller percentage of clean and well cared for dsm’s. Hopefully it goes to a good home :)

The buyer has owned dsm’s before. He wasn’t even really looking, but couldn’t resist at the price at closing. BAT now has a modified Tsi 1g with nice paint and it’s already above 10k. :aha:
I just saw that. Left a message there for you. Sorry to see you go.

Dang, man. I didn't even realize you were selling it. I read in a previous post that you were considering it. Did you post it here?
Well, it seems like you've made peace with the decision and I think that's cool.
Maybe we could've worked out a trade plus cash! My STi hatch just went live a couple days ago.

Stop back and say hi, let us know what you're up to on your other and next projects.
Remember to enjoy every day! When you're having a shit day, nothing squashes unhappiness like a little gratitude. 🤘🤙

One of the things about the Eclipse that I will miss most is being a part of this forum. I’m not closing my account or anything, so I can still hop on and give questionable advice on fixing cars. I did give a little plug for it in my auction comments.
Maybe I can keep updates on the Dodge as I work on it.
