Between the turbo & manifold?

I have a simple question when installing the new turbo my mechanic just put the aftermarket metal gasket between the manifold and the turbo by just putting the metal gasket on. The question is should you put anything on the gasket or something to help make a proper seal? Because it seems as if the metal gasket will not seal it properly because the fact that its hard steel. Or can you just put it on without adding any type of gasket maker to it?

That is the gasket, it's not as hard as you think, and it will seal fine. That is, if your mechanic is not a complete dumbass and is using the right one.

you could use that copper spray designed for metal gaskets if you're worried about it,but Tevenor is right,they seal up nicely as long as you don't have any broken studs.

Too hot there for a sealer to live. Take a look at night, at the top of a hill.

Yah the metal gasket is just thick enough and not to dense that when you tighten the bolts to spec it actually crushes the gasket slightly leaving it imprinted in the gasket making a nice tight squeeze.

with the studs torqued down enough and the heat produced the slim metal gasket will expand.
