I've seen guys go to alot of trouble to keep their dipstick from popping out. I simply put a hose clamp similar to the type one would use to hold their vacuum lines on. Since the piece of the dipstick below the handle is made of rubber, simply clamp that area and put enough pressure to hold it to the metal tube. It may take a couple tries to get the desired effect, but you can still pull the dipstick out and put it on as if it wasn't there. It simply trasfers the friction from the inside of the tube were the rubber has been worn out, to the outside where the new clamp will touch the dipstick tube. I'll take a picture tonight to make it more clear.

I finally added this picture. Took me long enough.
