i was wondering if any of you dsm lovers '' like me'' out there could give some good info about shep's basic tranny rebuild. i need my trans fixed asap but im inconclusive about who i should have it sent off to. im not running high horses yet but i plan to in the future. my talon is mostly street driven. i have several bolt ons. if anyone could help me decide i would appreciate it very much. :thumb:

Well I have a basic, with a 4-spider diff and I can say it is amazing. He told me if I could break it he would replace it. He said I would be able to run 11's with no problems, so I was very happy. Also many have said how fast they recieved their transmissions after sending them in. I am so close that I dropped it of and picked it up so no shipping for me, but I have heard other stories that indicate it is fast shipping.

I have a Shep rebuild however I got just about every extra option as well (welded diff, double synchros, steel forks, etc) and am extremely pleased with it thus far (about 7k on it). Only negative is I regret getting the welded differential. I keep destroying universals and draggin my driveshaft, I have since gotten a loop so it wont hit the ground when the joints go but still frustrating. The tranny itself is the most solid of any car I've driven, just the universals seem to weaken under stress of turning into parking spots and the like and eventually break during a hard launch. So if you're just getting a basic rebuild and not welding the diff, I say go for it. I live fairly close so I also just dropped off and picked mine up.

get the basic with at least the 4 spider one tuff tranny there

with the welded dif does it make it so ur front wheels always spin together? or is it something different? also whats the 4 spider thing u guys are talking about?

The nice thing about Shep is that he wont try and sell you more than what your need. I emailed him up explained to him my goals and what I am going to be running for a turbo and what Psi and he got back to me explaining what parts that I should get done and parts that aren't needed. Great guy and as soon as I can get some cash together my tranny will be getting sent out.
