I drive a 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS. It is 1.8 L and Front wheel drive. 5 speed.

I pulled a Barrometric Pressure Sensor error the other day, and my car would not stay on. I kept droping down to a very low idle, and dying out. I was told this sensor was located in the MAF.

I replaced the MAF, and I am experiencing this same problem as before. Could this be located somewhere else instead? I read that sometimes the BARO is refered to as the MAP. Do first gen DSM's have a MAP located outside of the MAF?

I am also blowing some white smoke, my roomate says it has a tint of blue in it, but I dont know if he's right. I doubt my head gasket woudl go at the same time as this sensor. And I checked the oil and their is no antifreeze in it, nor is the antifreeze level down.

My main concern now is this CEL that keeps comign on, and my car not being able to keep an idle.

Any help woudl be greatly appreciated.

Replacing the ECU caps tongiht, putting it back in tommorow night, so we'll see if that helps. Even with the new MAF, i'm throwing the same code. The ECU did have some bubbling on it, so it could be a leaky cap. I am praying it is.

For all of you who have BARO sensor codes, and replacing the MAF doenst work, try replacing the caps on teh ECU. It fixed mine, and now i'm back up and running!
