awd question

i searched the forums for this question but could not find it, there are like a million threads an i checked as many as i could, anyways, my question is, how does the dsm awd work? is it 4 wheels actually driving all the time or is it the front right wheel driving all the time and the other 3 spinning freely until the front right wheel slips and transfers that torque to the other 3 wheels? thanks

All four wheels receive equal power until one starts spinning.
