I'm about to install the translab shift kit + end clutch, my tranny has been slipping badly (upshifting at 3krpm+ and laggy downshifting). I'm shifting at 7200rpm right now at WOT. I'm just wondering if the translab will reduce the shift points.

thanks guys

Since nobody answered this one, I'll tell you my experience...

i used to shift at 7200 on all gears on my auto, now after the kit install i shift at 6700rpm. Shifts are firm. 1st gear ->2nd gear is laggy when I switch from L ->2 but still faster than stock. 2nd->3rd gear is lightning quick from 2->D.

The Kit was meant to reduce the lag time from the TCU to the tranny + many other features, and it worked. Highly recommended for all autos.

I was looking into the translab install... it's doesn't look too difficult, but did you have any real problems doing it?

go to plymouthlaser.com this guy is a genious. (compared to most) he details the whole installation(well almost) of the Translab install. I just ordered one, and a book for just my tranny from bulkparts.com. the bill for the kit and the manual including shipping was almost 50 bucks. not bad. they also have EVERYTHING to rebuild or upgrage the tranny and it's wholesale. awesome site. I hear that there are "choices" at one point in the install where you choose how you want your tranny to shift and install the respective spring into the valvebody.. i think you get all out performance, or like a lil bump in performance.. depends on what spring and how you want to drive. that's all i know so far. I will be installing the kit though in a week or so, so if you have any questions just pm me in a couple weeks and i will let you know how it went for me, but i have a f4a22/km175 so it will be a little different, but they are all along the same idea..

^ sorry for not repsonding for a while but good advice on top

All the info you need and what I followed are in VFAQ, but because i was located near Dean Mason, one of the guys at Translab, i asked him to finish the job. It took him under 3 hours to do everything it was amazing. But everything he did was what charles @ plymouthlaser.com did on his vfaq.

But overall, It's a simple mod and there were no problems. Dean did the hard parts of course (installing springs and putting everything back together), but the only difficult part i could see is drilling the holes required. I dont think it was covered in vfaq, but Dean just got the right bits and did it. Then he filed down both sides, and wholla done. (btw Dean Mason wrote the install manual for the translab kit)

Everything else was bolt on and simple.

Dean Mason's email: [email protected]
he's one of the research guys for translab kit, highly knowledgable and friendly. I recommend him for questions along with [email protected]

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the help.
