It'd be a Big e16g. Nice find if I do say so myself.

Agreed.

So I did some tuning with link today to get my airflows and combinedft at idle set. However while idling I noticed that my car started to get hot, temps hit 245 and I don't think the thermostat kicked it. Is there any way to log coolant temps or cooling activity other than the actual temp? I never saw anything.

Maybe I just need a new thermostat, the PO replaced the upper hose recently maybe he was blowing them off from heat and didn't solve the real problem.

Excuse anything that might now make sense. I've reached my limit with three beer. (Lightweight)

There is only the actual temp reading via the CTS in link. The only thing you can really do is determine why it's getting so hot. Are you running it lean? Is the Thermostat functioning properly? Are the fans kicking on? Is the system properly devoid of air? Etc.

Yea I have the coolant temps logged via link and shut it off before it got way too hot.

It's not running lean, actually did it before I put link in as well with a rich factory output.

Fans come on as I have link pumping them.

I am not leaking any coolant or smoking at all so I feel it's probably not a head gasket or leaking water pump. The engine had 180 compression last week and I haven't ran it much at all since then.

However after running it and feeling the upper and lower hoses as well as radiator it seems that only my upper hose is hot and pressurized which leads me to it being the thermostat. It's still hot and I'm done for the night so I'll try running it without the thermostat later this week. So overall, my guess is going to be thermostat is bad.

A few months ago I had bought my current 97 gst from Paragould and decided to do a quick speed test/handling. My couzin was in a 04 impreza wrx and we hammered it and around the 140mph mark we fly by a cop in a Tahoe. We pulled over and after a quick search of our vehicles. He let us go with a warning. My best guess is that he didn have time to clock us, and we got really lucky. I live 2 hours away from there so wont be seein him anytime soon. (I hope not anyways)

Would that happen to be MY old GST? ;)

When I bought it, it had all carbon fiber interior, racing seats, and the is white with a black hood. Had 134k miles on it. And first gear was out.

Is your coolant overflow tank filling up? If so change the radiator fill cap. Mine would run a little hot at times and it would fill up the overflow tank. Changed the radiator cap and have had no problems since. If not I think I would lean towards the thermostat as well.

Pick and pull score. Real carbon fiber weighted shift knob.
Had to get a new coil for the cop and Colton was looking in a 240 and found the knob.

Nice, I'm hoping to hit a pick and pull down in Dora on Saturday if the weather stays decent.

Found out my steering rack has a leak in it that seems to have been hidden by a dirty bellow....let's hope some stop leak will fix it after the tie rod change and I don't have to swap out the rack as well. Oh the love of a DSM, fix one problem to discover two more problems. However I did discover that the PO put on SS brake lines and Stillen rear rotors sometime in its history.

Completely understand finding problems. Changing the cv axle I find the bushing on the lower control arm is bad. Also had to fix the turn signal switch.

I just got lucky and thought I had a bad blinker bulb on the front right, went to change it and found that one of the wires pulled out of the plug. I just pushed it back in and all is good.

I got a question, the wife has a 01 ford escape, awd 3.0. I have replaced the struts (people telling her that this was the problem) and drivers side cv axle, problem still isn't fixed... all of my rubber for my bushings are good... but during driving if I gas it hard to jumps to the left and when I let off it jumps to the right pretty violently, makes me scared.to even pass, and on highway speeds I hear and feel like metal is rubbing real bad and it shakes.... drivers side, anyone have any thoughts on this? I guess I could take it to a front end shop and let them tell me so I can fix it....

I just hope the rod bearing holds up. I did a cruise delete too.

+1 man glad you stuck with it, oh how I absolutely ####ing loathed that cruise box, got in my Damn way everytime, I was going to do that seeing as the Damn bov wouldn't.let the hood shut unless tilted.

Audis' are nice. However - you should just go pick up an AWD DSM. Much cheaper. ;)
