A decent toyota that just needs a engine LOL. I might be getting one before to long for it. And it needs tranny shifter bushings and a t case shifter and someone to give it some love and care

Na but serious man just let me know how much you want for it

So I finally finished all of my prep work in getting the clutch repaired.

Tranny is out, cleaned, new pivot ball, new clutch fork, OEM TOB bearing, and new Jesus clip back on.

Pulled the rear main seal, replaced, cleaned up surfaces and waiting for morning to pick up some new RTV.

All in all I have only seemed to have lost one bolt, the rear motor mount bolt through the actual mount. The damn thing is 4 inches long, when I hammered it out it never hit the floor but I've been all over the back and can't find it. May just have to run to lowes and replace it.

Other than that the tranny will be back in this weekend if I can manhandle it myself, next weekend if I have to wait for my pit crew (the old man LOL)

Ahh! I knew it was familiar. It had originally "had something dropped down a spark plug hole." That's what the owner kept telling me.

WOW!!! I haven't heard that one before. Spencer bought it from a friend who told him it needed a new timing belt but i had a sinking feeling it was much worse than that. When he bought it, it came with a timing belt so we changed it and yet nothing changed.... a week later it self destructed. The guy he bought it from is guy we know from way back. I'm talking day care age. He helped out a lot with lending an extra hand but I think its because he felt guilty for screwing Spencer over so bad. I still can't believe with a new rebuilt engine and a new trans the car is still just ready to die and no matter how much money or time you spend on it it's just saying FTW. Crazy how it's blew the head gasket that fast. It might have a bad head on it. That is the head that came on the block he bought from you Kei. IDK if it was good or not. I asked Spencer if he had the head checked and decked before he put it together and I got a definite no on that one.:nono: Even if I was told it was good I would have still had it checked cause you never know .

Thanks to Colby and Bobby, i've figured out it's the oil gauge line that came off. Looking for a short braided line that'll reach from at least the fender to the fitting.. anyone have one lying around, or know who has one?

Brandon Just get a new wiring harness, build the motor right from a reputable shop, and new trans that probably what all it needed. The body of that car is excellent.

I'd say the trans has less than 90k on it. hey AL you don't happen to have the uicp pipe for the HKS bov and does it come with a way to recirc iit?

Depends on what all is wrong with the car

Yeah. Kyle didn't know shit about the car, and has apologized several times along with putting in alot of hours to help me get it back together. (I really can't blame anyone for buying that car but me. ) I didn't know anything about a spark plug hole dropping issue. O well, live and learn I guess. Brandon, just part it out and be done, has the other head sold yet? There is alot of money there. I was () close to dragging it to the scrap yard myself....

Hrm. Sounds like it's been through it's rounds, that's for sure. I agree with always getting things decked/leveled - it's a practice I always condone and practice myself. Even with the head and block I recently assembled, though I didn't take it to a machine shop - that's what a proper metal-square is for, in the very least.

The head and block were good when they were pulled from the car, I know that much. I drove the car back from Georgia in a single, non-stop journey - drove it around town for a couple of weeks - then began disassembling to part out. I drove it to it's resting place before it was towed over to JT's house. So speaking of sealing surfaces or anything like that, not sure how much a surface can decay in several months outside - but if enough I could see this happening. =/

How much would u charge to change a head?

Ahh, heck, I don't know. I know you're likely sick of dumping money in that thing.

I have a 6 bolt head that came off a running car, had a rod knocking and pulled the engine

Whatchya wanting for it?

I could pick it up - drive down to Little Rock - Slap it on the car - Fix the problems. Done.

Finally getting close to wrapping up the transmission work. Got the main seal replaced, flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate on and torqued down to spec. Went to try and get the transmission on but the old transmission jack that I have just doesn't want to work for me at the moment and I have to wait for a second set of hands.

I'm hoping that I can get this thing up and running by next weekend so I can go enjoy this wonderful weather we are getting this week.

Good ole' 2G trans install. Have the engine up and on a jack and trying to finagle the trans with it's 3 mounts in can be joyous, right?

I have to give this shop some props. He has been helpful to us several times and his prices are good.
Anyone needing turbo oil lines go see him.

It wouldn't be too bad with a second set of hands to keep the trans from wanting to roll off my transmission jack. Also, I have the oil pan on the engine removed so I could do the rear man swap. I may decide to put the oil pan back on for just the ability to jack it up and angle it more then drop it again and seal it up nicely.

It amazes me more and more each time I get into this car, it literally has NEVER been touched, still had the factory silicon on the oil pan. I'm eager to get this thing back on the ground but want to inspect a few more things while I have it up and in the air before I take her for a spin.

On a side note, I'm trying to find a funny/cheesy license plate for the car. I'm thinking maybe ISKWLU = I School You....I'm an instructor....

Ill be there bright and early tomorrow James for the shell. Around 7ish to say the least. I'll give you a call when I get home just in case you don't see this message. You probably thinking WTF about 7 on a saturday but I got's lots of work to do. I won't be able to do the engine and trans swap this weekend cause I still have to order a few things for it but I want to be prepared for when I do got to put it in. Get everything ready to go so I won't be out of a car but maybe a weekend.:hellyeah:

AWD Conversion - Automotive Articles .com Magazine

This is very good reading for those that are going to try and attempt this, Meaning myself LOL.

I know bobby, you said you was also thinking of doing this and wondering what all fab work was involved....

Do not attempt this in a 1G, and you will also need a AWD Starter plate, it fails to mention that.

BTW Brandon, still waiting on my feedback for that VC ;).

Its in mint condition.. 10 out of 10. I know when I put the head back on.

I believe its transmission, transfer case, driveshaft, and rear end.

I think if you pull the awd from the same generation its a fairly straight forward install.

Will also need a awd flywheel, and clutch.
