Anyone with a tubular front end.

I eventually plan on having a tubed front end built for my spyder once I start building it for road race. However, I'm always thinking about things involved with every aspect of the build. I was wondering for those of you currently with a tubed front, what did you do for the front roll stop mount attached to the cross member? Did you eliminate it or incorporate it into the design? Pics would be awesome too.

I've never seen one without the front roll stop incorporated in the tubed front end, eliminating it wouldn't make any sense and would probably make shifting tough at high RPM's since the motor try's to roll as you shift.

As far as pictures, not many 2g's have a tubed front end done although it has been something I've wanted to do.

Here's a build that STM did on a 2g with a tubular front end, there are a lot of pictures and you can see how they incorporated the front roll stop.

Devin also did a tubular front end build on the Red Demon, which is documented in his build thread fairly well too.

Thanks for the links, I really really appreciate it. I want to do this for the spyder when I begin to build it. I really like the setup from STM. I never thought about building the subframe piece into the tubular section. Glad I try to research first. I do like how they both went different ways to add the mount. Thanks again.

God id really like to know how they get their measurements when they cut everything! Itd be somewhat easy with the way Devin did it by keeping the upper support. STMs is pretty badass looking though for sure! Sometime down the road i do plan to go this route. I wonder what the weight savings is from this.

I've wondered about the weight savings too, but I think it varies depending on the materials and whatnot used. I like how STM did the roll stop, but I'd change up little things here and there. Still love it though.

It's not always about weight savings, but also making room
For tuat type of turbo placement. I'll be doing this as well.

I'd highly recommend making a provision though so that it bolts to the frame rails, that way ita SUPER easy to remove the motor.

Agreed, I'm all for making the engine easier to pull. I just may design mine to completely detach so it's not in the way when removing the engine.
