night in with the wifey
took off the ol timing belt that i bought in 2009 or 10.. been running it for at least 6 years, though for only 24k or so. looked almost new, still had the faded mitsu stamping. hadnt stretched much if at all, even after sitting for 7 months out of each year. tensioner still accepted the grenade pin.
oh well, out with the old and in with a new gates and pullies.
180 stant superstat this year, see if it helps keep temps around operating
bunch of other little bits still to do and retune
Lots of people do it but the best way to do it is installing off center . (Purpose > looks ) . Ive always wanted the talon front grill peice with the vent and cut holes behind it .I'm serious considering a aftermarket vented hood to assist in temp controls and give the car a more aggressive look
Damn that sucks hopefully you keep her!Due to unforeseen circumstances.
I'll do two options
1. Sell the car with the 20g injectors fuel pump dsmlink for 5000. 165000 new front end new rear hubs etc
2. Sell the upgrade package for 2200 obo
If interested let me know
Sigh.
Torn CV axle boot. Guess it was only time for one of those...
Actually, less torn.. more obliterated. Examination of internals without removing axle makes me believe it happened very late in the system. Socket is still clean.. but it's got to come out before I order a new boot. Cross your fingers it's not an entirely new axle.
Well, good news is i cleaned the sh** out of it and looked at the ball, cage, and cup.. and it definitely looks like it happened very late, probably when I drove it in <5C weather last September. Balls are clean and no sign of unusual wear. I am thinking this axle is actually not the original but a rebuilt before I got it. Anyway, yay, that much closer to boostin just need a set of 235/45r17s now.
235's gezze looks like you need grip what kind of tires you looking for?
Also, still looking for a 7 or 6bolt short block. Any condition works, really regretting selling off the dsm parts now...
Although, who knows.. since I am on a 7.5" wheel, a 235 is going to lose about 5mm from its section width. In that case it makes more sense to drop down to a 225 but go with a better tire, maintaining "about" the same price yet still be ahead.
Those NT555 G2 are awfully attractive.
