Ok, so I've been on here for forever and never made time to start a build thread, so here goes!
I am currently working on my 1st DSM, a stupid clean 92 GSX 6/4 i scored for $200 from some random guy in a gas station. I was talking to my roommate about wanting an Eclipse some day and this man just walked up and started selling me his daughters car that had been in the garage for 7 years with the motor split down one cylinder and the harmonic balancer all twisted and wobbly. We drove 5 hours to a tiny town in southern Illinois and picked up my very first project car. When I got it home, I started throwing money at it with little to no idea where i wanted to go with it, or how to achieve it. After some wheels, a few gaskets, taking things apart and putting them back together, and all the here-say i could handle, I was pretty sure I knew everything there was to know. Whoops.
One day I was hard up for money and a buddy of mine introduced me to the worst influence of my life. He talked me into keeping the car and hanging out with him and his friends while they taught me a thing or two about cars, motors, and everything in between.
Before you know it, I was wiring money to this kid every few weeks to buy me another car while i was working over the road. It was a wonderful thing coming home every month to a new car or 2, but it got a little out of hand. My first experience in buying, selling, trading, and parting out cars and I came home one day to 8 1G DSMs, a minivan, and 2 motorcycles. I am currently looking to buy my 14th DSM since 2008 and my 12th 1G. But my roots have stayed true and number 1 is still in the garage and I refuse to part with her.
After all these years of messing with my own junk and all of my friends' toys, I'd like to think I've come a long way from the body kits and neon light pipe dreams I had back in the day. There have been many motors and plans for this and that (long story short, I'm now the guy with twin turbos on my wall) but this is the story of the build for the car I've dreamt of having since I pulled my head out of my ass and figured out what these things really mean to me.

I'll sift through pics and upload them as I find them, and I'll be sure to keep progress photos coming. Just bare with me as this car and i have been through a LOT together and I'm trying not to write a book with my first post.

Haha, that was my buddies. We swapped it to a 4G63 n/a and we got it mostly running, but he traded it off for a 13.5 JL W7 and an amp and sold that for 1500 about a week later. Sad to say, the kid that bought it didnt have enough gumption to finish it and i think it wound up in a field somewhere. But that was 2 years ago, so theres a good chance its made its way to the shredder by now :/

Ok, so as the life of someone without their own garage often goes, I've had to move my car several times over the years for storage or a place to work on it and, needless to say, things haven't gone smoothly. During my change from garage to storage, some "friends" of mine decided to help me out by moving my car across the yard so it would be easier to get at with the trailer. Not a terrible idea, but instead of using something strong to tug it around with, they threw the chain around the radiator support and gave it hell when it got stuck in the mud. Believe you me, I was furious when i caught the damage and no one had told me...

Welds were broken, the wire harness was smashed, and the radiator support was all yanked out, so I cut my losses and stuck it in storage till I could figure out what to do.

After some heavy debate, I decided I probably had what it takes to replace it all the right way and get the car back on its feet, so I called upon my biggest strength and started looking for another car to buy. We ended up finding 92 TSi just down the street for 450, so I scooped it up and dragged it back my buddies and started in with a wrench and a sawzall.

These are a few pics of the donor car I bought to repair the front end of my GSX. Mine was cut off a little less haphazardly, . I drilled out all the spot welds and got it ready to go over the course of a few nights, now all i need to do is weld it on

All mocked up and ready to weld. Let me tell ya, a motor goes in a lot quicker with with the front end missing The motor has been sold, but I'm working on a new one. I'll post more about the motor build once i get a little farther into it.
