Altezzas not SAE/DOT??

well i went to get my car inspected today and a few other things. they failed me because of my altezzas. they dont say SAE on them, so they fail. Sooooo much fun. i asked them why so many other people have them and nothing is said. he said he wouldnt pass em because they didnt have SAE on the tail lights. he showed me stock lights on a van that had that on it. so everyone if u have altezzas please get back to me if u have sae or dot written on ur lights. they also said because on the corners it isnt red and reflectivce. anyway my friend does inspectons so im going to him tomorrow and get my sticker

my mom put altezzas on her 3g and she got a card stating that they are sae/dot approved. i dont know if they say it on her lights though

maybe the inspector was giving you a hint. You should take the wonderful advice and throw those craps away.

heh hey that gives u an incentive to now go back to stock lights since it'll look better imo anyways just paint the center piece to colormatch your car with the stockers and u'll have a sweet car.. i wish i had the 97-99 look.. im in process of doing the job.. but ill have that centerpiece painted done already

I like altezzas on Eclipses also, was SAE engraved in or was it on a little patch?

Only 1 company makes aftermarket lights that are acctually SAE DOT complient that is TYC Genera. http://www.elegantebytyc.com/

If your lights are not stock or made by these guys they are not legal sorry to tell you. It doesn't matter what they say on them either, they are not legal. APC and all those other crap companies have never gone for any type of complience testing.

Some people have mullets, some people still listen to Dokken, and others show off their poor taste with altezzas.

blah blah blah altezzas this altezzas that..i dont like them either but im not gonna sit there and say his car looks hideous because of it..his car is hot as hell, his wheels and paint are real nice...say peoples cars are hideous cuz you dont like them and see how many friends you make around here. wow this turned out just how i thought. a flame war about my lights. actually i have the altezza center too. how about i put that on too? im looking to paint the center piece. and the chrome housing matches my rims thanks. i belive the stock lights are all red?? yea i think that looks more like a christmas tree then what i have. personally i think out of all the altezza lights out there, these look the best. im gonna put my stock lights on cause everyone doesnt like my lights. im gettin my friend to "inspect it" tomorrow , so it doesnt really matter. i used a gift certificate i had there so basically its free money anyway. it was won at a raffle. to those of u who gave me useful knowledge or shared ur experience i appreciate it. to those of u who hate.... dont be jealous cause u cant get 50 hp for just 100 dollars at pep boys. but dont tell everyone that... or it wont be a secret

I was in court last week and some kid was fighting a ticket that he got for having altezzas. The judge ruled that they are not DOT approved so they are not legal. And the kid showed how they said DOT/SAE approved and the judge (and a cop that was there) both said, you could buy a gattling gun for your car that says SAE/DOT on it, it still doesn't make it legal. I thought that was kind of odd.

they seriously need to stop this crap with penalizing people for their cars. many people have altezza's and u can see the lights fine on the road. u can even see most blackout covered lights fine on the road at night sometimes. the aftermarket industry creates thousands of jobs and generates over 68 million a year in sales. where would our country be without that?????
