on the walkthrew.. it says you will see 2 honeycomb's well after remvoing that star shaped silence i couldnt fine 2.. i saw 1 but that was it.. anyhelp? anyone done this mod?

its probably best not to take out the honeycombs or your car will most likely run like poo and for the other question elbow grease baby:D

I dont know, I pulled a whole piece out of the junkyard...It worked great untouched. but then I pulled out that star looking filter and the honeycomb and it went to hell.....Maybe the whole thing went bad or it was the removed pieces that did it....but I wont be doing it again

thanks man.. and i pulled the star lookin peice out..didnt touch the honeycomb part.. and cant really tell much of a difference but just slight.. maybe when i cut into the air can i will.. but im goin to leave the honeycomb part alone.. dont wanna mess anything up... but if anyone else has done this tell me whats up.. thanks

Yeah, it looks like a previous owner already removed the lower honeycomb on yours. As for cutting into the aircan, I used a hacksaw. It took me about 30 min to cut it like I wanted. I then used a rotary tool to do the rest. Cars react differently to this modification. Mine ran wonderfully after cutting the aircan and removing the silencer (star shaped filter). Other vehicles don't. Make sure and replace your filter with a higher flowing one like a K&N. Oh, and it'll sound a whole lot better when you're done. You'll really be able to hear the engine revving. One thing to keep in mind. Now that you've opened the front end to more air flow, you need to work on the exhaust. A hi-flo catalytic converter did wonders for my vehicle. It has a lot more top end now.

I just took the damn air can off, after I found the hose I forgot to hook back up it works great. I removed the lower honeycomb too, no apperant ill effects.

EDIT: I want my car to be that color orange, its purdy.

LOL thanks man.. it a facotry orange mixed with some gold peril in the paint and sprayed some in the clear coat...

I'm pretty sure only the turbo MAF sensors have 2 honeycombs, the NT's have one. The honeycomb is there to straighten out the airflow as it hits the sensor for a more accurate reading. Removing it does not help in any way in a NT. If you look at it and use some powers of deduction, you'll realize that removing that isn't going to free up any horsepower, seriously folks, how much of your intake does that super thin honeycomb block. If you want a better flowing MAF get the GM one and mass air translator. As for the can, just take it off, If you cut a hole in it it's going to be subject to the same ammount of warm air as if it was without the air can. If you want to free up intake flow and keep a cold charge you need to take the can off and make a cold air box for the filter to reside in (look at my gallery).

Okay listen, MY n/t had the lower honeycomb, and a top one, so I can tell you n/t's DO have 2.ALSO I time myself 0-60 removing the lower honetcomb DID improve this time.ALSO....removing the aircan DID! improve this time.thank you that is all.

I dunno maybe my n/t is just a frea kfrom every other 1g n/t out there... yeah I'm sure thats it

i did the air can mod and removed the silencer i used a dremel it took me like 10 mins to do and i dont have 2 honeycombs theres only one on a 2.0dohc non-turbo but i do feel a increase in power my car runs much better then it ever did with over 200,000 miles on it

Your right, thats why I do it 3 or 4 times in a row

It only got better by a couple tenths of a second on average...but better
