I just wanted to know if anyone installed the HKS SSQV bov valve in their car. I was thinking aobut buying one but i wanted to amke sure that there would be no engine problems. I heard alot of times that engine idle can be messed up by bov that relaease into the air...aright thanks for ur help..peace
 
I haven't, but I know that quite a few guys have them here and seem to have no problems. If I remember right there is an adapter you can get to make it recirculate too... I just can't find the link. I'll keep looking.
 
running your stock bov into the air is completely different than the hks ssqv BOV. The HKS one has a super sensitive flapper and spring, which is why it is so expensive. Venting the hks, from what I've heard, causes no problems, while venting the stock bov has a tendency to cause problems.
 
well i went outside before and put duct tape over the bov reciruclator tube and then started the eninge and it idled normal like it always does should i go for a ride and see what happens yesterday i didnt put any tape over the bov recirculation tube and my idle was all over so i dont know but it looks like my eninge has no problem venting with the stock bov so with the HKS it should be even better.
 
umm... herostar? The style of the bov has nothing to do with venting. Metered air is metered air, when the bov releases that air into the atmosphere, it is missing in the intake, and the engine tends to run rich, causing it to die off, this only happens on some peoples car. Some have done it and had no problems at all.

I just tried venting my stock 1G atmosphere yesterday, plugged the whole and what happened was it idled so good when I did it but when I went for a run it must have changed stuff cause it stalled 3 times and the idle bounced between 300rpm and 1500rpm. But damn it was fun scaring the hell outta those two old ladies walking down the road.

(bubb rub voice = on) The Blow Off Valve goes psssshhtt psssssshhhtttt (bubb rub voice = off)
 
that blows guess im gonna have to go and drive it tomorrow well they have recirculation kits for most of the aftermarket bov's ne way but it makes them less loud..i dont really care ne way i am prolly gonna just go with a 1g bov are they a direct bolt on to the stock uicp?
 
the hks is one of the best valves for venting. we have to 2g's here with no idle problems or performance loss. and hell on my 1st gen i have no problems running my turbo XS RFL

This initially bugged me when I first got my 2G.....and somehow it is different on every single car. Luckily for me I've had no idling probs at all....I quote tallywackers post because I also have the RFL......I don't know or heard of any other aftermarket bov that even comes close in terms of noise. :thumb:
