2G Adapter for 99gs spyder

From what I've looked at in order to run a 96-97 ecu in my 99 gs spyder im turboing i need to either buy or make an adapter for the ecu yes i could use a 95 eprom but there hard to find and more expensive so if anyone either has an adapter or can provide some insight on what to do to make the other ecu's work it would help a ton thanks

Not sure what you mean by an adapter? The 96-97 ECU will plug right in.

Out of curiosity.. if you're not going with a 95 eprom, and you're moving away from a blackbox.. how do you intend on tuning the car? Or are you just doing a stock swap?

Ahh ok i must have miss understood the car is going to be a stock swap of all the gst stuff and a 14b off a 1g .I still can't make up my mind on which tuning method i want to go with either the black box which the car already has but im not sure if i would have to get a gst 98-99 ecu to use ecu flash or get a 95-97 ecu with link.ill probably go with whichevers cheaper

After 30 years of these cars i can tell you do not just pick the cheapest route. Pick the parts that meet your objective goals and constraints. If one of those constraints is cost and has to be met, understand the limitations of the choice. This typically applies to all parts although some limitations are somewhat subjective. If you are not aware that these two products are not the same you need to do further research or ask more questions.

Didn’t ecmlink release a 96-97 ecu adapter board to run an eprom or was that just the 1g ecu im thinking about
They created a way to convert your non eprom ecu to an eprom type of unit, that would include the 96-97 ecu's on the 2g yes.

A Blackbox is cheaper up front, however will come with a MUCH higher learning curve and higher cost to have someone else tune it. An ecmlink ecu may be harder to find and have a higher up front cost, but its much easier to use and cheaper in the long run when you factor in the stress involved in tuning a blackbox.

Oh.. did I mention I have a blackbox? If I could go back 24 months and make that choice again I would have spent the extra money on link in a heartbeat...

This is from their website, if you have a 96-97 ecu you need to send to them.

Using a 95 or 96 non-EPROM ECU
Running a non-EPROM 95 or 96 ECU is no problem. You just need to select “2G non-EPROM conversion” in the socket/conversion option at the bottom of the ECMLink ordering page. Then you'll send us your ECU, we'll do the conversion, install ECMLink and then return it back to you.
