Hi there i have a gvr4, i notice that this happens only in the morning or when the car is not warmed up, i think it is normal but let me know whats up. im not sure how to describe it but its like the idle kinda goes up or sumthing when i roll backwards, i think this is becuase its cold and the engine is warming up so its idling at 1.5-2k then if i put it in gear and start to move the idle is normal. now that i have written it out it seems kinda normal hahah.

Also when its cold i kinda hear a not so much a grind but kinda like it sound as i shift to second, then after 10 mins or so i can shift to second alot easier and quieter, what is that?

Also why do i have to step ALL the way down on the clutch to get into second gear easier without any wierd noise, its also not so much grinding but sounds but kinda like it. 3 4 5 gears are easy to get into without having the clutch ALL the way down. My friend with a 2nd gen gst has the same prob. is this just kinda normal?

What are signs that your tranny fluid is low?

thanks sorry about the long questions

thanks again

It sounds like the synchro is going out of second. you might try double clutching to ease shifting. I don't know about the idle.

Im not sure if its a syncro... i will try the double clutch method to see if it feels better. I had a car once with a bad snycro and it was not like this. Thanks tho, i will see

ok galant vr4...I have a solution to your problem. Atleast it worked for mine, the grind going into 2nd while cold happened to me so I put in redline synthetic gear oil 75w 90 or something. No more grind its about 8 beans a bottle but I think it is worth every penny, mine took 2.25 qaurts. The other problem seems normal I cant think of what causes it off the top of my head cause my brain temporarly ran away from me... Mine cold or warm outside temps when I first start it up stays around 1500-1750 then it slowly lowers but lowers much quicker if I drive. Good luck:thumb:

Thanks for the help dude, i will try the oil. I think i figured i way around it also, if im in first then go to second, If i hold the shifter to the farest left i can go then bring it down everything seems fine, also i tryed the double clutch thing it also works . I sure hope everything is ok.

thanks
