SO I drive to pick up a 7 bolt motor today in trade of my 6 bolt motor. All that turned out great and the guy even threw in a poly motor mount for timing side. I get home and jump right into the install. Upon starting, Im getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. Then when I bring the lift over to the truck to pull block off it, the damn pin falls out the leg of the engine hoist, and the block takes its fall to the ground. I did manage to try to glide it down, as my finger gets sliced like a bad paper cut.
Now, I'm 10 mins into my install, and already had a hella time . So, I take 5 min break and get a drink. Now, I start work again and approach the bay with the block ready for drop in. I shit you not, when I started to slowly lower it, I turned it a little too much and it lowered on top of all those hard black lines that run along the strut tower and chews them up pretty good.
Hell I'm about ready to call it the day with my luck. I start lowering it slowly, and the alt is catching on the car frame and blinding the motor. I raised it and lowered it several times to line up the flex plate. I started to lift it up again, and it got caught on what I though was the frame again on the alt, so I try to push the motor towards the firewall. THEN I noticed the damn dip stick tube was wedged into my BRAND NEW radiator . BY the time I got that unstuck, I RIPPED a chunk of it off .
I am so upset at my luck and how this is all going. I then start working at it again, and finally get the crank into the converter and start the bolts. I noticed that damn corner of the block by the transfer case isnt butted up to the trans like the rest of the block . I dont even know what size bolt goes in that hole or anything.
I finally get the block bolted down, by all bolts but the back one that threads into the tranny. I set the head on the block and put the hood back down.
NOW, I start to burn out the rubber on the motor mount to install the inserts . Oh NO the inserts dont fit. I guess Im suppose to take the sleeve out to? MY god im just not having any luck.
IT's dark now, and I lifted the hood up and propped it up with the hood prop, so I could grab my flashlight I left under there. I shit you not, The hood went sideways, because it wasnt bolted down, and the corners of the hood made 2 nice marks in my windshield. Nothing was wrong with it before, no cracks or anything. Now I have large PITS and im sure will spider out.
I WALKED INSIDE AND TOOK SHOWER.
