Hey everyone over winter im doing a street build on my gsx shooting for 400-500 whp street car. It will see track here and there hoping for mid 11's. Yes i know the stock block could probly take that but it happened to have a slight rod knock so i decided to build it while its out and get it over with. I am sticking to the 7 bolt since its the 99 with the thrust washers im not to worried about crankwalk. My best time with it this past summer was a 13.1 on an 18g @ 20psi i believe it was easily capable of 12's if i had a good shifting trans my trans was hard to slam gears at higher rpms and that is why im getting it built as well.
The build will consist of
Wiseco std bore 9.0:1 pistons
Manley H beam rods
Arp mainstuds
ACL race bearings
ARP headstuds
Crower valve springs
HKS 272's
Tuning with the 99 ecu flash
PTE 4431e turbo
FP manifold
Tial Bov
Vrs FMIC kit
1600cc injectors
Fuelab filter and lines for E85
Odyssey lightweight battery
Hallman BC
Theres more to it but thats all i can think of for now.
I will be posting pics as i go on i have a goal to have it running mid to late march and tuned by late april early May.
On to a few pics i have of it
No major strut tower rust little to none at all on em but just a sand down and respray of it.
Block back from the machine shop
The parts so far only thing i need to bottom up the bottom end is rods and piston rings. The pistons i bought slightly used from a member on here less then 2500 miles got em for half the price of what it would be new.
And the mock up of the head and block starting to look pretty
