:dsm: Hello, this is my 97 Eclipse GST Rebuild thread.. and stuff. :dsm:

Lets start off saying this car is my baby, Im the 2nd owner of her. Bought her from a fellow around 35-40's somewhere along there. I paid $3,800 for it.

Post 1- Bringing it to the shop..
Post 2- The Tear down
Post 3- The Rebuild :hellyeah:
Post 4- New Goodies!!
Post 5- The finished Product.

The car when I got it-
-100% Bone stock, for the exception of a JVC headunit +10 points
-Excellent interior, leather has little wear +10 points
-Exterior was almost perfect for the exception of a small dent on the quarter and rust in the bay +5 points
-Never smoked in, although I smoke, I wont in the car, Ill TRY... LOL +5 points

I had started this thread a few hours ago, took me an hour to type it all up.. While uploading photos my lovely firefox crashed! :banghead: So I'm retyping EVERYTHING. It bothers me ooo so much. SO instead of retyping the sad sad story of my rebuild, Ill tell you this: Drove it for 5 days, let a buddie drive it ONE day while I drove the GSXR600 and he brought it back to me that evening on a motha' ....... trailer. He was, :beatentodeath: LOL.

-Stock rebuild
-Oem crank
-New bearings
-New oil pump and water pump
-Gaskets NEW EVERYTHING
-SUPER CLEAN EVERYTHING!!
-Metallic Blue block
-All bolts cleaned and/or painted
-The usual stuff...and stuff..etc..

Exhaust-
-3" Magnaflow :)
-2.5'' from the 02 to the flex
-High flow cat

Turbo-
-Stock T-25
-Rebuilt
-New gaskets

Intake and stuff-
-GReddy FMIC
-GReddy BOV
-K&N Over-sized Oval filter

Thanks! Sadly no I was gonna order a BSE kit from RRE when I ordered my SS Flexible clutch lines and Oil catch can but I already have my oil pump and timing kit on.

Hey guys, this is update 2. This was the "tear down" and clean stage.

and stuff..



Got it on the stand and took the components off, now lets go inside and see what the damages are.
Took the valve cover off, and everything looks good :thumb:

In the block.. Heres what we've got, I had 1 rod bearing spun on the crank.
Need-

I ended up painting my waterpipe - glossy black
Thermostat - housing silver
Block - metallic blue
Oil pan - glossy black
Oil pan bolts - bronze
02 dump - black
Wastegate- bronze
Head - really clean
Valve cover - silver metallic blue lettering
AC bracket - silver
and stuff

I cant find the photos of the pistons and rods bring installed, but here I have the oil pump on and the ofe, the pan is just sitting there.

The head, Water pipe, and exhaust manifold on, Im pretty sure I had to put a turbo line on from the block then put the water pipe back on.

Alt, thermostat housing, turbo, intake manifold, power steering bracket, dip stick, valve cover, etc installed. Notice the huge a$$ bolt in my turbo mani.... :banghead: damn thing stripped..

Had the hardest time getting it to start, It would turn and turn and turn but no cigar.. THEN!! :aha: I finally realized to check the cam sensor, I looked at it and I freaking forgot to bolt it in the head!!!!! Got that in there and it finally started, then stalled. Swapped the cam sensor around and it purrrr'd

Here was the finished product! Next update - New Goodies!! :sneaky:

Thanks, Im thinking of re-painting it another color. Any ideas anyone?? Im also thinking of repainting the car. I thought about a metallic orange with a gold or blue metallic flake. And the valve cover orange and blue letters. I just wanted my eclipse to stand out. What do you all think?
 
maybe this is a stupid thing to say... but hopefully this will prevent mistakes and knock. check your base timing make sure its 5 degrees btdc.. dont just spin the cam sensor until it sounds good....
