I'm in the process of building a 90 n/t engine into a turbo monster. I need a little help with a certain aspect that I just can't seem to grasp.

I obviously want to cool down the turbo and I do have a 90 style air oil cooler. I'm probably going to have to replace the stock lines because they are rusted. What size braided steel lines do you guys suggest I go with as an upgrade?

Also, where am I supposed to connect these two new lines too? Pics do help. I do have the banjo bolts, but I'm confused as to where to connect them too. Theres a bolt on the filter housing for filtered oil and one for non-filtered. Ahhh dammit. Pictures work better then words.

Thanks in advance.

Alright, I have it all figured out now. Now all I need to know is what new connecters should I use on the end of my 8 AN steel braided lines. What is the specific model number for those blue connectors that connect the steel braided line to the oil cooler and oil filter housing.

What I have done on the race engine i build was get fairly decent sized oil cooler from B&M, (sorry, forgot the size), I used -10AN lines, I got the fittings from Baker Precision.com, I believe they are power steering fittings, they are like 14mmX1.5 or something of that nature, just remember to measure before you order.

I am, but I am also going to buy 8AN lines for the oil to travel to and from the cooler. Heres the problem, I need to know what type of banjo bolt I will need to buy so that I can attach the oil lines to my oil cooler and to the filter housing.

The threads at both the oil cooler and engine are 16mm with a 1.5 thread pitch. You can either buy metric to AN adapters or get the AN banjo style fittings. I know both Earl and Aeroquip carry them. Also, if you measure the diameter of hole the oil travels through on the factory banjo bolts, you will see they are exactly the same size as AN6 line. Therefor there is no need for larger lines, that just equals more money.

I actually did this mod today after I got some cash. Went to a hydraulic parts store and got everything I needed. My sizes were M14x1.5 yet my buddies were M16x1.5. Go figure. :dsm:

I actually did this to my car as well I got some pics of it in my profile. I used 8an sized fittings and I also used a fitting on the oil filter housing. I cant remember exactly what kind of fitting it was but I'll check it out tommorow and see.

I have a 90 tsi so maybe I can help. Being that you have a non-turbo, it would be easy for you to just go to the junkyard and get the oil coller, lines and oil filter housing (contains the 2 banjo bolts needed for bolting up the oil cooler) off of a 90 tsi,gst gsx or what ever. I wouldnt bother with stainless lines, my lines were in great shape so its possible that you find some decent lines in the junkyard. Good luck.

I couldn't find the fittings I needed to go with SS lines so I just got tired of messing with it and ordered the OEM lines from the dealer. $120 - ouch.

I actually have a rebuilt 91 turbo motor in there with the 90 style oil filter housing from a 90 turbo. I did this mod with SS and all the fittings. Price came to $90CDN or roughly $75US. They are much wider at 3/8th (almost same as 8AN). Everything looks and feels much better.

I called Conicelli and they quoted me $54.59 in stock. I just asked for an oil filter housing for a 1990 GSX.

If I order this, is there anything else I'll need??? Do the lines on the housing end attach with banjo bolts and banjo bolt fittings? If so, will I need to order the bolts and lines as well, or can I just use off the shelf parts and have some hoses made for the application. Thanks!
