My buddy was having some fun with the ole tig machine. Got the gussets welded onto the motor mounts as well as got the fittings welded onto the fuel cell cell hanger plate.

Made a template housing for the shifter, cut it out, welded fully in place, also had to throw the seat back in to see wherebi want the hydro. Fingers crossed this is the last time i put/pull the trans and or seats. Getting a little old and tedious. To finish off the shifter plate im going to reach out to my old man to laser one out of stainless so it goes over the carpet as a finishing touch.

Hydro mount created and welded in place, floor brace/trans hoop all welded up, and drivers side floor patch most of the way finished.. next would be the passenger side floor and she is ready for primer, sealer, paint and the engine to drop in.

You reinforced the d/s floor for the cab mount. I noticed the p/s has some rusty around it too and was going to ask, but thought I’d rather not take away from the impressive fab work to point out a potential repair. Now that you showed the d/s repair, I’m doubly curious.

Oh no worries.. im glad your pointing this out. Make me feel good when people have questions about the project and progress.. yes the passenger side front will also be cut out and a patch panel made to "fix" the crustyness. Just ran out of time last night and had to keep the noise down. In my opinion this design of the truck sucks. It should be like all the square body chevys where the front wheel wells/tubs are removable and the cab corner is set back farther specifically for this issue where water and what not accumulates and causes this rust.. the rear cab corner/mounts are spotless and bolts still have all the zinc plating on them.. wish that was the case for the fronts haha.

Passenger side floor complete. All that is left now is to prep for primer/sealer/paint. Need to prep the inside of the cab, engine bay, underside of the cab / frame and paint some misc parts (motor mounts, trans mount, cab cross over/driveshaft hoop)

Finally out of the garage.. been a long time coming. Truck frame, interior cab, and engine bay are ready for primer, sealer and paint. Thing looks weird being out of the garage.

Starting to put the truck back together. Harness was a pain in the ass as usual but its in as well as the brake master, booster and clutch master. Parts in the making : shifter top trim piece, removable coolant/washer/ps bracket, finish panel to cover up ps pump, and bracket for fuseable link/circuit breaker.

Brake lines for the most part done.... had to order a new master since the threads on the old one were pretty jacked, then my luck the back fitting is a different one so i have to redo the section of line..

Finally some more progress. Took the motor apart to check bearings, redid all the gaskets and dropped here in. Pulled out the intake and exhaust for the final mockup to make sure nothing moved too much.

Also got the whole front end apart so its ready for more painted and new parts.

“Finally more progress”?!?! And that consisted of tearing down the motor…ROFL
That would take me months. You’re a harsh critic of your own accomplishments, because the progress your making is staggering to me. Very entertaining, though, with updates actually very frequent.

Hahah, thanks man. Yea somedays it doesnt seem like anything gets done between work and the kids. Not a fan of looking at something taken all apart, plus the wife wants the basement clear of all the evo, ram50, and dsm parts so slowely getting them all together.

Always no point in half ass doing something.. all brand new suspension components came in. Some of the items like the springs, strut rod, lca thru bolt, sway bar mounts and strut rod mounting brackets i just quickly cleaned up and sprayed. Also have all new steering components that came in but thats for another day.

All suspension parts installed. Waiting for some jam nuts to finish up the steering. Front hubs rebuilt with new seal and bearings. Also got the flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, fork, tob collar, trans, tail shaft seal, starter and trans cross member all installed.

Looking clean and fresh. Nice lift!
Thanks man.. yea them wheel cribs are the way to go in my opinion. Gets the truck up in the air and no fighting with jack stands being in the way all the time.

Fuel cell for the most part done. Need to get the truck bed back on to half ass see what how tall the neck needs to be. My buddy had some good ole fashion fun on the tig machine today. Internal baffle/basket made in the cell as well.

Been a little busy tracing electrical gremlins on the evo but i was able to get some solid work done in the truck. We got the following done.
-Brake and clutch are blead
-Intake manifold, throttle body, remote iac, fittings and throttle cable installed
-Exhaust manifold installed
-Intercooler and oil cooler installed
-Had the radiator in but too many clearance issues to the throttle body setup, order a half rad honda boy radiator
-Truck bed on
-Fuel filler placement established, bed cut, metal slip in form made for a flush and sleek look. (Still need to pull the bed off, wire wheel it, paint and bedliner it as well as weld the fill tube on the tank.)
-Also got all the driveshaft dimensions while the bed was on so i will be calling the local driveshaft shop to make the shaft.

More to come.
