welp bought my car not that long ago, checked everything out. drive it for s short amount of time running 12lbs on my t25 (everything stock) when i bought it the crank didn't have barly any play with 118k miles, now my shit is clicking and my crack tore my balence belt off and tore the timing cover almost off, its got to be moving over an inch :( i havent even had a chance to be hard on it yet!

6 bolt swap here i come (it comes with a 14b too woot!), my question is:
what should i keep from the 7 bolt?
-the MAS
-the head (have it machined to fit the 6 bolt block)
-the exhuast manifold? (just do the j-pipe thing)
-WHAT ELSE?.....

PS- would it be cheaper to try and find a 2.4L block and just replace my block and get new pistons and shit? PLEASE HELP!
thanks

Use the intire 6bolt set up including the head and intake. Keep your mass air flow sensor because it flows more and you will have to swap all your sensors to your 6 bolt. go to magnus motorsports and the have the complete list of what to keep and what you will need.

are you sure i dont want to try to keep the 2g head? i heard it flows better than the 1g.

any second opinions?

this is being professionally done so i want it done to be able to get the most horsies out of this thing.

im having this professionally built at AutoLab (checkout some of their super badass projects)

Well the question is what do you want out of this? What are your goals? How much HP do you want? How much are you willing to spend? Like for me when i did my 6bolt swap i had to do it because my 7bolt lost all oil on the highway. I want a 500hp motor so i got one. By the way the 6bolt is not something to be taking lightly if your doing with yourself like i did LOL. But since your having a shop you shouldn't worry. You only need the sensors and a/c stuff from the 7bolt. Keep the 2g fuel rail as well. You can stay with the 2g head if you want. Lately i have been hearing great numbers coming from them. Keep the 2g exhaust manifold. Use a 1g intake manifold. Thats pretty much it.

for the moment i am talkin bone stock motor but i want to use the best parts between both the motors, if i get more power out of the 2g head then thats what i want to do.

and i want what we all want... an AWD monster.

The 1g head flows better than the 2g head.

- True, but the 2g head can be honed out a lot more than the 1g head can. It is also a little bit of a pain to get the 2g head to fit onto your block. There is some sensor relocating and such.

I would recommend registering yourself to the 1gina2g yahoo mailing group:

Good luck!

Are you sure its not just your harmonic balancer that failed? Its a very common problem. Mine let go at 60k are destroyed all kinds of shit. And a 1" of movement WTF ???? Is your crank sensor wasted? Thats a sure sign of CW.

Your correct. I was thinking of the old 6 bolt swap when you had to use the 2g oil pump housing to use the crank sensor. This was befor the cas swap was around. I stand corrected.

I do know that for the 2g head to fit onto the 1g block you will have to enlarge the headstud holes.

Wow, thats some nice porting work. I wish there was someone around here that could do that good of a job. Especially sence I am having my some head work done on Thursday...
